In tonight’s Coronation Street episode (Friday, November 14), Megan and Will’s controversial relationship took a darker turn, with the grooming storyline reaching new heights.
Just as the pair were ready to call it quits, an unexpected move by Maggie gave their romance a lifeline. This allowed them to continue seeing each other in Weatherfield.
Now, actress Beth Nixon has spoken out, revealing the disturbing truth behind Megan’s manipulation of teen Will Driscoll, and it’s more twisted than fans ever imagined.
Oblivious Maggie gave Will and Megan a lifeline
Tonight, Will Driscoll returned from his athletics trip visibly withdrawn, with Megan trailing closely behind despite having recently ended their relationship following a near-miss encounter with George.
Ben, unaware of the tension, offered Megan money for the journey. He even invited her to join the family for dinner. However, the atmosphere quickly turned uncomfortable when Ollie innocently mentioned Will’s mystery girlfriend, unaware that the answer was seated at the table.
Later, Will confided in Ben that he wished to continue training with Megan. He proposed relocating to Hull to pursue his athletic ambitions. While Ben appeared open to the idea, Maggie Driscoll was firmly opposed. Determined to keep her grandson close, she enlisted Eva’s help. They then offered Megan financial support to coach Will in Weatherfield twice a week. A compromise that changed everything.
Following the arrangement, Megan and Will met privately and agreed to continue their relationship. Megan expressed her belief that Will had matured, insisting he was ‘a real man’ and that she could no longer deny his feelings for her.
Coronation Street star Beth Nixon details reason behind Megan behaviour
Coronation Street newcomer Beth Nixon has explained a bit of Megan’s backstory and has admitted the reason behind Megan’s grooming of Will.
The actress told The Sun: “She’s very calculated. Everything she does is for a reason, but she’s very good at hiding that.
“She’s very insecure, but again, she hides it. So she’s very confident and charismatic on the outside; she charms people, she makes people feel sorry for her, she makes people like her. She’s worming her way into this family; she’s almost like a parasite.”
Admitting that Megan is ‘multi-dimensional’ and ‘not just an evil person,’ Beth added: “So, there are all these things I’ve decided in my preparation. She’s very insecure. She’s desperate to be loved; she’s desperate to be adored. And her reasons for that will eventually be uncovered, and we’ll dig deeper and find out more about her. But she’s a flawed person. She’s really complex as an actor you’ve got to delve deep and find a reason for why a person, a ‘villain’ as such is a loose term, behaves in that way.”
