The Traitors’ Rachel Duffy has pleaded with fans to “be kind” after sharing a photograph of her sick mum Anne.

Rachel, 42, is currently appearing in the BBC show and is one of two known Traitors in Ardross Castle.

In the first episode of the series, Rachel touched upon Anne suffering with dementia.

The mum-of-three told host Claudia Winkleman that she would use any winnings to make memories for her mum.

Rachel has now shared a sweet picture of Anne on social media after giving her a T-shirt.

The white top is emblazoned with: “My daughter’s a Traitor.”

She has also revealed that Anne was also diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease when she was just 47 years old.

Rachel wrote on Instagram: “Words of wisdom from my wee mummy Anne who is not only my motivation on The Traitors but my inspiration in real life.

“Mummy was just 47 when she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s (4 years older than I am now) and now faces dementia but still amazes me and my family every single day.

“Everything she has done for me and my four siblings is nothing short of incredible. Sharing caring responsibilities over the years for her has been a privilege and we are so proud to call her our mum.

“She wanted to show off her T-shirt – so say hi and be kind or I might just murder you.”

Fans have been quick to comment on Rachel’s honest and heartbreaking post.

One follower said: “47!! Wow that’s so scary. Sending you love.”

Another person added: “Brilliant, Anne be loving that.”

A third added: “Aww Rachel that is what life is about Anne is one of the best.”

Who is Rachel Duffy?

Rachel is one of 22 contestants who were picked for the new series of The Traitors, which kicked off on New Year’s Day.

In the first Round Table, she was selected by Claudia to be a Traitor.

Claudia also picked cyber security consultant Stephen and barrister Hugo to join her, although Hugo has since been Banished.

But Rachel and her fellow Traitors were then told there is a fourth Secret Traitor hiding among them.

The Secret Traitor knows who they are, but Rachel and Stephen do not know his or her identity.

Rachel was clearly miffed at this massive plot twist, as ultimately, the Secret Traitor is deciding who they can murder in the game.

Away from the cameras, Rachel lives in County Down in Northern Ireland with her husband Sean. They have two sons and a daughter together.

Rachel works as head of marketing and communications for the charity organisation, Clanrye Group.

But before appearing on screen in The Traitors, she said: “I’m going to say that I work in marketing, which is true, but it’s leaving out the fact that I do strategic communications across Northern Ireland on a daily basis.

“I don’t want them to know that speaking to people and getting my point across is very easy for me.”

The Traitors continues on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 8pm on Wednesday January 7, 2026.
