King Charles has reportedly left some within palace walls deeply worried following his brother Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s latest scandal and arrest.
Andrew, 66, has faced years of scrutiny over his association with late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, alongside allegations of sexual assault, which he has always vehemently denied. On February 19, 2026, he was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
While the King has publicly insisted the royal family will fully support the police investigation, sources now suggest those closest to him fear the ongoing drama could take its toll.

King Charles ‘in shock’ amid Andrew scandal
Scrutiny intensified after millions of files relating to Epstein were released last month. Among them were images appearing to show Andrew kneeling on all fours over an unidentified woman lying on the ground, although no context was provided. Being named or pictured in the files is not, in itself, an indication of wrongdoing.
Following the US Department of Justice release, Andrew was accused of sharing sensitive and confidential information with Epstein connected to his role as a UK trade envoy.
He was arrested last week on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The specific details of the allegations have not been disclosed. He was released hours later under investigation.
Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein. His arrest is not an indication of guilt and no charges have been brought.
However, with Charles continuing cancer treatment and the controversy dominating headlines, concern is said to be growing behind the scenes.
Charles’ ‘health is a big concern’
In early 2024, King Charles announced he had been diagnosed with cancer. Though he has not revealed the specific type. It is understood not to be prostate cancer.
The King continued treatment throughout 2024 and 2025. In December last year, he shared what he described as “good news”. He explained that his cancer treatment could be reduced in the new year.
Now, in light of Andrew’s arrest, a source has claimed the situation has left Charles shaken.
“Charles is in shock at everything that’s coming out,” an insider alleged to Closer. “And, as much as he might put on a very strong show, it’s no secret his health is a big concern.”
The source added: “He’s in his late seventies and battling cancer and he’s got to contend with these allegations that his brother is mixed up with Epstein. He doesn’t have the constitution for this kind of scandal.”
They also claimed Charles had reflected that “the only silver lining is that his mother isn’t here to have to face the full extent of this ugliness with her favourite son.”
ED! has contacted Buckingham Palace for comment.
King Charles’ statement on Andrew’s arrest
Following Andrew’s arrest, the King issued a personal message, stating: “I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office.
“What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.
“In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course.
“As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all.”
As the investigation unfolds, the King has made clear that the legal process must proceed without interference — even as questions swirl and pressure mounts around the wider royal family.
