Kate Middleton reveals shock cancer diagnosis

Filmed whilst sat in the sunshine on a bench, the Princess of Wales thanked the public for their concern and well wishes after undergoing abdominal surgery and stepping away from the spotlight.

Kate’s illness caused countless conspiracy theories and rumours to spiral, which the mum-of-three put to rest in her touching message.

In the video, Kate said: “In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present.

My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.

“This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”

Kensington Palace share statement about Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis

Despite the royal family taking a more open approach to addressing their health in recent months, the type of cancer Kate is being treated for hasn’t been stated.

A statement from Kensington Palace explained why

It read: “We will not be sharing any further private medical information.

We will not be sharing any further private medical information.

“The Princess has a right to medical privacy, as we all do. The Princess is now on a recovery pathway having commenced a course of preventive chemotherapy.”

Princess of Wales’ Mother’s day post

Kate has been the subject of social media speculation after she underwent surgery in January, and later shared an edited Mother’s Day Instagram post, which raised plenty of eyebrows.

She later had to release a statement, explaining that the edited photo was her “amateur” mistake.

Her statement read: “Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing.

“I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day.”

In wake of the drama, Kate visited a farm shop, where she was filmed by onlookers as she appeared to put on a brave face.

Although Kate looked to be in good spirits, a royal expert has urged the public not to “push her” during her recovery.

Speaking to The Sun, royal historian Hugo Vickers said: “I would urge people actually not to push her too much. She’s probably been through quite a big operation and needs time to recover.

“I think, if she happens to need another month or two, well, so be it. But do let’s let her get well and get better in her own time, and stop persecuting her.”
