Zoe Ball has revealed she is suffering from another painful health condition – just weeks after her return to BBC Radio 2.
The presenter, 54, announced her departure from her Radio 2 role after six years in November 2024. Zoe told listeners at the time: “It’s time for me to step away from the very early mornings and focus on family.”
She then made her return to the airwaves last month to host a new Saturday afternoon on BBC Radio 2.
And recently, Zoe updated fans on her health and revealed she has been diagnosed with bursitis.

Zoe Ball reveals painful condition on BBC Radio 2
At the weekend, Zoe was back hosting her afternoon radio show on BBC Radio 2.
Speaking about her bursitis, Zoe said: “Yes, it’s come to that. 54 and I got bursitis.”
The radio star then shared that although she’s been in pain, she has continued to train with her coach Seth.
“Thank you to Seth. I found out I’ve got a… what is it? A rating of… was it a four or five on the fitness level?” she said.
Zoe added: “I was quite impressed with myself – out of, I think it’s nine or ten. You’ve gotta start somewhere, haven’t you?”
Bursitis is when fluid-filled sacs, also known as bursa, that cushion the joints become swollen and painful. Sufferers can also endure a limited range of movement and pain that worsens with movement or pressure. In rare cases, surgery may be needed to remove the inflamed bursa.

Zoe’s other ‘awful’ condition
Last year, Zoe also revealed she had been battling another painful health condition: TMJ dysfunction – a condition which affects the temporomandibular joint. It connects the lower jaw to the skull.
Taking to her Instagram in November, she shared before and after snaps of herself at a treatment in a London-based clinic.
She said: “I have TMJ and wake most days with awful headaches from tension and jaw clenching. So grateful to Helen @thesculptresslondon for her magic. This is my face after I’ve seen her, check out my face before – yikes – picture 2.”

Zoe’s return to BBC Radio 2
Zoe quit BBC Radio 2 in November 2024. This followed the death of her mother, Julia, from cancer earlier that year.
However, Zoe made her return to BBC Radio 2 in May this year.
“Hello it’s me, oh it’s lovely to be back on a Saturday,” she said while greeting listeners on the new programme.
Zoe continued: “This is where it all began for me, back in the day when I used to sweep up and make the teas. I used to do early mornings. And then I used to do the slot where Rylan [Clarke] is [at 3pm].”
Zoe also revealed she’d been enjoying “a few lie-ins” after she quit the early morning slot last year.
She quipped: “People have learned not to phone me before 9.30am unless I’m doing the school run.”
