Claire Sweeney previously opened up about the “terrifying” moment her son “went purple” when he was a baby.
TV legend Claire is a proud mama to son Jaxon – born September 2014. Claire – who is on the Great Christmas Bake Off today (December 6) – shares Jaxon, now 11, with former fiancé Daniel Reilly.
However, back in 2015, Claire was left “crying” in fear after Jaxon choked on a banana and “went purple”.
Claire Sweeney on son’s ‘terrifying’ accident
In 2015, Coronation Street star Claire spoke to BT.com and recalled a scary moment she had to step in to save Jaxon from choking on a banana.
She said at the time that doctors told her baby Jaxon “needs to start trying different finger foods”.
Claire explained: “So I went to Tesco and bought a big bunch of bananas, sat him down, broke a bit off and let him start eating it. And he just went purple and choked.”
Fortunately Claire knew what to do after taking a first-aid course while pregnant.
She said: “I had him upside down, whacking his back and I panicked – it frightened the life out of me. He was fine, the banana just flew out and hit mum on the face and the next thing he’s laughing and smiling and I’m sitting crying, it was terrifying!”
Who is Claire’s son’s father?
Claire got engaged to Jaxon’s dad, Daniel Reilly on Christmas Eve in 2012 but split in April 2014. However, just weeks later Claire found out she was pregnant.
The pair decided to rekindle their romance shortly after. Speaking to OK! at the time, Claire said: “We’re together all the time now. The priority is the baby and Daniel is here supporting me and he is fantastic. Daniel has been living with me and looking after me. He’s been so lovely.”
Claire gave birth to their son, Jaxon, in September 2014. A few months later, though, it was confirmed they had ended things for a second time.
She shared a statement at the time which read: It read: “Whilst we have decided not to remain together we are committed to bringing up our wonderful son. And making sure we are great parents and supporting each other to achieve that.”
