The pressure is mounting for Paddy Dingle in Emmerdale as DS Walsh refuses to back down over Ray’s death. With new evidence now in play, the village vet is firmly back in the firing line and viewers are starting to ask the big question. Is this the beginning of the end for Paddy?
Walsh is determined to prove Paddy helped cover-up Ray’s death and, circumstantial or not, she seems convinced she is on the right track.
DS Walsh questions Paddy in Emmerdale again
After calling at the vets last night (Monday March 2), Walsh noticed rope identical to that used to tie up Ray’s body. That discovery was enough for her to haul Paddy back in for questioning tonight, Tuesday March 3.
Paddy was on the phone to a solicitor, hoping Bear’s move to a secure mental health unit might strengthen his case, when Walsh arrived and took him to the station over the so called new evidence.
At the interview, Walsh produced a photograph of the rope used on Ray. Having seen similar rope at the vets, she had drawn her own conclusions.
Paddy stood firm. He insisted it was standard horse rope used by many vets and argued that even if it was the same type, it proved nothing. Bear could have accessed it and has already confessed. From where we are sitting, it does feel like a stretch.
Paddy was eventually released, but Walsh made it crystal clear she is not dropping this. Back home, he filled Dylan and Mandy in, insisting he must stick to his story and that everything would work out.
But with Walsh on the case, that feels far from guaranteed.
Is Paddy leaving Emmerdale?
Viewers are divided. Many do not see the rope evidence as especially strong, but they are convinced Paddy is in serious trouble.
“I think at this point Paddy is [bleeped],” wrote one fan online. “Uh oh that sneaky cop has connected Paddy to Ray’s murder thanks to that rope,” said another. A third added: “DS Walsh was out to get Paddy.”
Not everyone is sympathetic. “Good, Paddy deserves to be in prison, so he can see how Moira feels,” commented one viewer, with others agreeing.
So what does this mean for Paddy’s future in Emmerdale? Nothing has been officially confirmed about an exit. However, while Bear may be able to argue self defence because of his mental state, Paddy does not have that same protection.
At the very least, he could face charges for perverting the course of justice after lying to the police. The big question is whether he can realistically avoid a prison sentence if it comes to that and if not, whether that would mean a departure from the village.
For now, DS Walsh is not letting go and Paddy knows the net is tightening. Whether he can wriggle free is another matter entirely.
