The royal has faced allegations that he shared sensitive and confidential documents with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein while serving as the UK’s trade envoy in 2010.

Andrew has always denied wrongdoing in relation to Epstein. He has also vehemently denied allegations of sexual assault against him.

Nevertheless, attention has remained fixed on the former Duke of York and his alleged behaviour has continued to provoke outrage.

Infamous Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor arrest snap

Andrew spent approximately eleven hours in custody on February 19. When he was released, photographers gathered in hopes of catching a glimpse of the disgraced former prince.

He was photographed in the back seat of a car leaving Aylsham police station. At the time, he appeared to lower his seat in an effort to avoid cameras. That was when Phil Noble’s well known photograph was taken.

The picture shows Andrew looking “shell-shocked,” with his collar turned up. Since then, the wide eyed image has spread rapidly.

Now, it has reportedly been hung inside one of the world’s most famous museums, the Louvre in Paris, home to the Mona Lisa.

Everyone Hates Elon target Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor

The British political campaign group Everyone Hates Elon reportedly placed the photo on a wall inside the Louvre on Sunday, as per The Guardian.

Under the framed image, a card was reportedly attached that read: “He’s Sweating Now,” alongside the year.

Everyone Hates Elon claims to target “billionaires and their politician mates” through provocative and unexpected stunts. This time, the focus has turned to Andrew, and the message has raised eyebrows.

Activists from the group previously targeted Jeff Bezos last year. They displayed a large sign in Venice’s St Mark’s Square while he hosted his lavish wedding in the city.

The sign read: “If you can rent Venice for your wedding you can pay more tax”.

Representatives for Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and the Louvre have been contacted for comment.

The story behind famous Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor arrest photo

Noble, a photographer with the Reuters news agency, described what it took to capture the image. Reflecting on the moment, he said: “You can plan and use your experience and know roughly what you need to do, but still everything needs to align.”

He also explained that photographing a moving car often involves “more luck than judgement”.

Andrew has continued to deny wrongdoing in relation to Epstein and has also denied allegations of sexual assault.

This arrest should not be seen as any indication of guilt. There are no charges yet.
