‘Swollen and infected’ Amanda Holden in medical ’emergency’ at home: ‘Never seen anything like it’

'Because they started fighting, I had to try and separate them'

Amanda Holden previously needed medical attention after being left ‘swollen and infected’ following an incident at home.

The TV presenter made the shock confession during her Heart Radio Breakfast show earlier this month. Chatting to co-host Jamie Theakston, Amanda revealed she was suffering the painful effects of an injury she had suffered the night before.

According to Amanda – who is on The Celebrity Inner Circle today (November 1) – she had to intervene in a fight between her cat and her new rescue cat. But unfortunately for Amanda, she came out of the ordeal worse for wear.

Amanda Holden ‘never seen anything like it’

“We’ve had a little bit of an emergency overnight,” Amanda’s co-host Jamie told listeners, before asking Amanda to explain what happened.

She revealed: “Oh my gosh, well, I’ve been attacked by my own cat, not my rescue [cat], who is very sweet and is trying to be subservient with our Princess who is 15, [but] she is absolutely not having it.

“And yesterday they came across each other, we’ve been keeping them very separate. And I put my hand in, because they started fighting, and I had to try and separate them.”

Revealing her shock, Amanda added: “I’ve never seen anything like it and my own cat got hold of my wrist with her teeth, and I literally lifted my arm in the air and she was still on it.”

Amanda then shared that her wrist was feeling “red hot” and had “doubled in size”. She also revealed she found it hard to “string a sentence together” and was suffering a headache.

Although not sure if the symptoms were down to the bite, Amanda said: “I can’t move it. I’ve got no eye makeup on, I normally turn up looking like Claudia Winkleman every morning. And I need a tetanus jab for sure. I can’t move my hand.”

Jamie then told listeners that a doctor was coming soon to examine Amanda. She responded: “Honestly, this is an outrage.”

Amanda reveals husband’s response

Later on, an update was given on Amanda after she was seen by a medical professional. She said: “I’ve seen a doctor and he’s prescribed two sets of antibiotics to cover the possible bacterial range, but apparently cats are full of horrible bacteria, because I can’t move my wrist.

“He said in my life I’ve probably had five tetanus [jabs], he’s hoping, so therefore you’re covered for life.”

Amanda then went on to reveal that husband Chris Hughes wasn’t that supportive following the ordeal.

Sharing a text from him, Amanda said: “I’ve just had a text from my husband saying I’ve really milked my cat bite this morning. He didn’t even realise that he’s done a little bit of a pun there. I haven’t milked it, it’s serious!”

Amanda rescued the cat from Corfu earlier this year.

Watch Amanda on The Celebrity Inner Circle on Saturday (November 1) at 5:50pm on BBC One.
