Loose Women star Kaye Adams reveals Christmas plans are ‘scuppered’ as partner is rushed to A&E: ‘It’s been postponed’

'So all my Christmas plans went completely out the bloody window'

Loose Women star Kaye Adams will have a slightly later start to Christmas this year — but not entirely by choice.

Just two months after her own health crisis, where she mistook vertigo for a stroke, Kaye had to rush long-time partner Ian Campbell to A&E.

Speaking to Karen MacKenzie on the latest episode of their How To Be 60 podcast, the Loose Women presenter shared how her Christmas plans were “scuppered.”

“Oh my God, my plans for Christmas were…. this weekend I was going to get the tree and just try and start to get organised. Completely scuppered because we spent a night in A&E,” Kaye began.

“Ian said he had chest pains. The thing is, Ian is not a drama queen. Men are hypochondriacs; he’s the opposite, he’s stupidly stoic. So he came in, he looked a wee bit grey, and he said he had a pain sort of in the middle of his chest.”

This led Kaye to take his blood pressure before rushing to the hospital.

Kaye described the A&E trip as an “experience,” calling it “the ends of the earth.”

“So we got there about half past eight, he got an ECG quite quickly, which was fine,” she continued. “And then he got another blood test to test some kind of protein in the heart, which was fine – and then he had other blood tests that were taken that we needed to see a doctor to see.”

Come half past three in the morning, Kaye and her partner were still waiting “in this little room with all these people”.

“[I]t was like: if you could see infection on a microscope slide…. It was everywhere, and you could just feel yourself getting ill,” she explained. “God!”

“And we eventually left before we saw the doctor because…. I mean, the people were nice, the staff were absolutely lovely, but there’s just not enough of them.”

After the triage said it would take a few more hours for them to be seen, Kaye and Ian went home.

However, the trouble didn’t end there.

Kaye revealed that, shortly afterwards, she came down with the flu.

“All the germs, sort of aching all over, shivering, just feeling like absolute death,” she said. “I took to my bed, which is very, very unlike me. So all my Christmas plans went completely out the bloody window, so it’s been postponed unfortunately.”

She concluded that Ian is “definitely getting a full check-up for Christmas – that’s his Christmas present.”

“It’s better than a bloody shoehorn and a headband with a torch on it,” she quipped.
