Gemma Collins has shared a reassuring update on her mum, Joan, who has been hospitalised after battling pneumonia.
In an Instagram Story shared yesterday (November 27), which included a photo of her mum and family members, the former The Only Way Is Essex star wrote: “Seeing mummy slowly on the mend today finally is a miracle from above. And the incredible doctors and physios at Broomfield hospital. I can’t thank you enough.”
‘The toughest week of my life’
Gemma’s mum was rushed to hospital earlier this month in what Gemma called the “toughest week of [her] life.”
In a social media post at the time (via The Mirror), Gemma wrote: “This week has been the toughest week of my life. I didn’t know if I was coming or going, and still don’t. My mum is really unwell, and I just want to thank the NHS doctors and nurses at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford Hospital, for looking after mum so well.”
“Mum has pneumonia and is really struggling. Please, if you believe in prayer like me, please say a prayer for Mum to get well ASAP. Thank you to all my closest for being there for me and for everyone who has reached out to higher powers to help Mum, you know who you are.”
“Also all the friends and family who have visited and keep bringing the love for mum. Mum and me always have loved Madonna and her music, so it’s getting me through ATM, giving me a lift.”
Gemma Collins’ hidden struggle
Meanwhile, in a second Story post from yesterday, Gemma admitted she was “struggling.”
Sharing an image outside her house, she appealed to her followers for help: “Really struggling with the Christmas decs this year, been so low with mum in hospital, not been able to function like I normally do. Are there any Christmas install companies out there who can help? This will also be filmed for my show with Sky TV, if you’re up for some camera action. I want it to look magical for when mum returns home, please DM.”
As announced in August, Gemma is currently filming a Sky TV reality show. It’s entitled ‘Gemma Collins: Four Weddings and a Baby.’
The eight-part series follows Gemma as she navigates wedding planning, living in a blended family with fiancé Rami’s children, and her IVF journey. The show will be aired by Sky Max and streamed on NOW sometime in 2026.
