Lorraine Kelly ‘to take extended break from ITV show’ following worrying op: ‘She’s been through a lot’

She had preventative surgery to remove her ovaries recently

Lorraine Kelly is reportedly taking an extended break from her breakfast ITV show after her recent operation.

The Scottish presenter, 65, revealed earlier this month that she was in hospital to undergo keyhole surgery after feeling unwell for “a little while”.  Lorraine said: “I had some scans and tests and I have to have my ovaries and tubes taken out.”

As a result, she has taken a step back from presenting her self-titled ITV programme. Christine Lampard filled in today (May 8), speaking to Naga Munchetty about her incurable health condition.

Now, it’s been claimed that Lorraine Kelly is taking an extended break from her morning series and will also not be attending the upcoming BAFTA TV Awards.

Lorraine Kelly ‘to miss BAFTA Awards’ after operation

On Sunday (May 11), the annual BAFTA TV Awards are taking place at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall. The glitzy bash celebrates the best telly in the past 12 months.

Last year, Lorraine was honoured with the BAFTA Special Award.

But for this year’s ceremony, the TV legend is reportedly going to be a no-show, so she can “properly recover” from her surgery.

A source claimed to The Sun: “Lorraine is worlds away from where she was this time last year when she was being honoured with a special BAFTA award.”

The insider added: “She’s been through a lot with her recent health scare and is quite rightly taking some time out to properly recover. Lorraine is already missed by the ITV team and will be desperate to get back to the day job.”

The publication also reports that Lorraine is yet to confirm a date to return to her ITV show. The source claims it is “too early” in her recovery journey to say.

ED! has contacted Lorraine’s representatives and ITV for comment.

Lorraine is back at home

Earlier this week, Lorraine shared on Instagram that she had already left the hospital.

“Huge thanks to these kind, caring, gorgeous professionals who took care of me at @heatherwoodhospital,” she wrote.

“[I’m] back home now and following doctors orders to rest up – My surgeon Mr Ahmed Rafaat has been so reassuring throughout – and I can’t thank the whole team enough! #care #kindness #professionalism #thanks #hospital #lucky.”

In the photo, Lorraine was captured smiling in a chair surrounded by five healthcare workers.
