Loose Women star Janet Street-Porter has shared her fears ahead of upcoming surgery due to her arthritis.

The 78-year-old TV star was supported by her Loose Women pals today (October 14) as she announced she will be heading off for surgery towards the end of the month.

But as she was speaking about it, Janet revealed how she gets “anxious” when anything related to her health happens. And even had an accident a few days ago which has left her with a painful neck.

Speaking to her fellow panellists on the show about having health anxiety, Janet confirmed she’s scheduled in for another knee replacement in the coming days.

She said: “I have got bad arthritis. And I have another knee replacement coming up at the end of this month. Not many days to go now. But if anything goes wrong with my body, I absolutely catastrophise.

“A week ago, I was doing my show in the theatre. And when I looked down my neck jammed. Ever since then I haven’t been able to get rid of it. I have had physiotherapy and I have slung everything at it.”

Janet went on to say: “I want my body to be operating at peak capacity, peak efficiency. And if anything goes wrong, I can’t handle it.”

However, Janet may be anxious about her surgery and health, but she has every belief that she will live for many more years.

She explained: “My full intention is to live to be 100. And to live a very full life. So anything that comes along that might impede that, I go absolutely crazy and I can’t cope with it.”

After Janet explained what was happening, head panellist Christine Lampard shared her support. She told Janet: “Good luck from all of us and I’m sure you will be back to your normal self in no time.”

Janet’s hip replacement

The star’s admission comes one year after her hip replacement. Janet got the surgery back in October 2024, after delaying it for months.

At the time, she revealed: “It was really depressing me. I lost weight through the stress of it. I wasn’t eating very much and I was a complete mega misery-wad and my normal misery face. Now it’s up to me to really try to stick to physio and do all these exercises. Sleeping is not that easy but mentally I have come out better.”

But before her hip replacement, she told the Loose Women panel that she couldn’t “stop thinking about it”.

She said: “As I am sitting here, I am shaking. My hands are freezing cold. I keep dreaming about it. I’m going to go into hospital on Friday, have the operation on Friday afternoon. Then I will stay in hospital for a few days and then really work at rehab and physio so that I can come back as soon as possible.”

Good luck, Janet!
