Celebrity Traitors star Kate Garraway addresses awkward David Olusoga row

Kate Garraway has addressed her awkward Round Table exchange with David Olusoga after she was banished from Celebrity Traitors last night.

The BBC reality show continued yesterday (October 30) and gave fans a Round Table to remember. Not that the remaining Faithfuls made any progress or anything… they voted out poor Kate with the treacherous Alan Carr and Cat Burns sailing through to the final.

It was Kate and David’s back-and-forth that really caught fire, though.

Good Morning Britain hosts Ranvir Singh and Adil Ray have since asked the banished player for her thoughts on the argument.

Celebrity Traitors: Kate Garraway and David Olusoga’s tense battle

It all began with David voicing his theory that Jonathan Ross, Alan and Kate had been colluding as Traitors to take him down. He claimed the trio tried to “build an alternative” story at the Round Table that would lead to him being labelled a Traitor.

“That would make sense, because the oddity about my role in this game is I had five votes and then the next night [they disappeared]. Which just seems extremely weird,” he went on to mention.

David then pointed his finger at Kate as the only player to continue this agenda against him after those five votes. “Only because I was trying to bring something useful to the table, it’s my job. I feel I’m…” she replied, as David interrupted. And this is where the cringe really began.

“I’m just gonna finish,” bit back Kate, shutting him down. “I was just the only one that was brave enough to raise it. Why didn’t we go back to you?”

David responded: “It’s very interesting and I’m not saying that we shouldn’t have done. I’m saying the person who wanted to was you.”

Intercut close-ups of the other contestants exaggerated the drama. And it appeared they couldn’t believe what was unfolding.

‘We’re just saying the same point over and over again’

In defensive mode, the long-time ITV broadcaster said she wasn’t happy with the “implication” behind her co-star’s words. “When you state a fact David, I feel like you’re then implying something by it. That you stated this happened and it’s only you, and then you allow everybody to look back at me and think, why did she do that?”

The awkwardness didn’t let up, with David agreeing that this was “exactly” what was happening. “That’s what we’re supposed to be doing, we’re stating a fact because that’s how you have conversations. That’s exactly what I’m doing…”

“I know you are,” Kate then fired back. “It feels that you said I’m just agreeing with you. But now it feels like you’re suggesting it feels like something more than agreeing with me…”

“I think we’re just saying the same point over and over again,” said David, leading Kate to simply add: “Okay.”

How does she feel about it now?

Speaking to Ranvir and Adil on today’s (October 31) Good Morning Britain, Kate claimed it was nothing personal between her and David.

“I didn’t take it personally as I’ve lived genuine life and death,” she commented. “At the end of the day you know you’re not really going to be murdered and you might not make it into breakfast, but life will go on. So I didn’t take any of it personally.

“It’s an incredible game you’re completely sucked into. No phones, no contact with the outside world, so you’re absolutely in this intensity. I think it’s very easy to take it personally because you feel really close, really quickly to people in that environment,” she then added.

What else did Kate say about Celebrity Traitors?

Elsewhere in the interview, the Celebrity Traitors player opened up about her overall experience on the show.

“I think those that are Traitors probably had a very tough time,” Kate told Ranvir and Adil. “You’re basically with a group of incredible people and you’re having to lie, deceive and murder them which is not what most of us choose every day.

“For me, I was just completely myself all the way through and I thought that would be easier. So I was absolutely flabbergasted that they were suspicious of me. I must be the least suspicious person in the world.”
