Is Joe Tate leaving Emmerdale? Ned Porteous posts new headshots
Over the weekend, Joe Tate actor, Ned Porteous shared photos on his Instagram.
But rather than just admiration, the pictures prompted immediate concern from fans — they were new professional headshots.
Soap viewers often see this as a possible sign an actor is preparing for a new role, something that has happened with Emmerdale cast members in the past. It didn’t take long for people to start asking questions in the comments.
One wrote: “I hope this doesn’t mean you are leaving Emmerdale!”
Another asked: “Amazing photos. But you’re staying in Emmerdale, right?”
The speculation spread beyond Instagram, with fans also discussing the post on Reddit — especially alongside a moment from Friday’s episode (February 20) that some think carried a hidden meaning.
Home Farm scene ‘foreshadowed’ Joe’s exit
During the episode, Kim told Graham that although nine people were currently living at Home Farm, she wanted it reduced to eight. While she was clearly referring to him, some viewers believe the line hinted at a bigger departure.
On Reddit, one fan wrote: “So, we all agree that something has to change with Joe. There have been a lot of theories he will die. In Friday’s episode, Kim said to Graham she wanted eight people living in Home Farm. Could it be foreshadowing Joe’s death? And Ned has posted new headshots. That happens quite often when the person is leaving.”
Another agreed: “I do think the writers are setting him up for a downfall.”
A third suggested a different twist: “I think Graham is actually going to be the downfall of the Tates. I think he will reveal their plans and deception to the Dingles, and get Moira home and Rob the farm back. He’s hiding in the shadows for his moment.”
Not everyone thinks Joe should be killed off, though. Some viewers would rather see him lose everything instead.
