Coronation Street fans have called for a flashback to reveal the true history between Lisa and Becky Swain and further secrets.
Becky and Lisa have a very complex relationship; Lisa’s now engaged to Carla Connor due to believing her wife was dead.
With Becky filling Lisa in on her need to fake her own death, fans predict that she hasn’t been completely honest with the Weatherfield detective.
Becky and Lisa Swain’s history
Lisa believed that wife Becky Swain had died in a police chase involving the Radcliffe brothers and had grieved her for almost four years.
However, Becky recently shocked her by reentering her life very much alive. She then revealed that she’d had to fake her own death to protect Lisa and Betsy as she’d been putting them at risk when working undercover.
She’d been living in Alicante, hiding away from a criminal gang leader called Curtis who had now died.
Lisa and Becky have a very long history, but how well does Lisa really know her wife?
In a recent interview with Digital Spy, actress Vicky Myers explained: “There’s still obviously 20 years of history between Lisa and Becky. And obviously Becky is Betsy’s mum, so this has really thrown a spanner in the works, to put it lightly.
“So I think it’s going to be really interesting for the viewers to watch this whole dynamic play out. To have that understanding as to this history that they’ve got together, where they were 20 years ago, and what was happening when these two women found something in each other and had to wait to get married. They got married and had a child, so there’s a lot to come.”
Coronation Street fans demand Swain flashback scenes
After finding out just how deep Lisa and Becky’s relationship history goes, Coronation Street fans have now called for the soap to air a flashback episode to delve even deeper into their past.
One fan commented: “We NEED a flashback episode for Lisa and Becky to understand their past and how it affects the present. Sadly, we probably won’t get one because they wasted it on Kit, Mick and Lou when they could’ve just said they knew each other as teens without showing it.”
Another wondered: “Okay, could this be heading for a flashback episode showing the police force homophobia/gender misogyny in the 90s? Showing how Lisa and Becky relied on/needed each other, then got together and maybe now Becky has done a full circle and is now bent/corrupt herself?”
A third added: “Actually, I would like a flashback episode. I want to see their story back then. But I don’t know if it can happen. Maybe, they will have short flashbacks or they will have deep conversations.”
A final viewer shared: “I would be sooo sat for this, especially flashbacks!”
