The king played host to a special ‘first’ at Windsor Castle last night (Wednesday, January 28) alongside his wife, Queen Camilla.

The monarch, 77, was joined by other members of the royal family. However, as some fans noticed, Prince William and Princess Catherine were nowhere to be seen.

King Charles hosts ‘first’ at Windsor Castle

Wednesday night saw King Charles host the first-ever movie premiere to take place at Windsor Castle.

Windsor Castle played host to the premiere of a new documentary movie about King Charles’ environmental work titled Finding Harmony: A King’s Vision.

It premiered at the castle on Wednesday night and will be available to watch on Amazon Prime on February 6. As well as looking at his environmental work, it’ll give a rare, intimate glimpse at his private life.

In a video posted on the official royal family Instagram account, fans were given a better look at last night’s historic premiere.

With Coldplay’s A Sky Full of Stars playing in the background, the video featured clips of the king meeting the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch, Judi Dench, and Stanley Tucci during the premiere. Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster were also shown to be in attendance, as were Kate Winslet, Jools Holland, and Kenneth Branagh.

‘A magical evening’

The king wasn’t the only royal in attendance.

He was joined by his wife, Queen Camilla, as well as his sister-in-law, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were also in attendance.

However, the Prince and Princess of Wales were absent from the premiere, as were Prince Edward and Princess Anne.

It’s strange that Prince William and Princess Catherine didn’t attend this event.

“A magical evening at Windsor Castle,” the caption of the Instagram video read.

“The King and Queen attended the premiere of ‘Finding Harmony: A King’s Vision’.

“Available to watch on Prime Video from Friday, 6th February 2026, the film outlines His Majesty’s philosophy of ‘Harmony’. Exemplified through the work of @kingsfoundation, Harmony encourages us to see ourselves ‘as part of nature, not apart from nature.'”

Fans gush over King Charles’ movie premiere

Some of the people who had been in attendance at the film premiere took to the comment section to gush over the evening.

“Incredible evening and loved the film!” one gushed in the comments.

“Thank you so much for a lovely evening! The film is incredible and shows you the sheer amount of willpower, work and positivity that HRH the King, The King’s Foundation, and all the organisations involved actually do!” another wrote.

“Great film,” Jools Holland said.

Others were left questioning why William and Catherine weren’t at the event. One person said, “It’s strange that Prince William and Princess Catherine didn’t attend this event.”

Another claimed: “I’ve noticed you never invite Prince William and Princess Catherine whenever you host your celebrity receptions.”

No reason was given for the royal couple’s absence.

Reps for Kensington Palace have been contacted for comment.
