Kate Middleton has made a sweet gesture to fans as she continues her cancer treatment.

The Princess of Wales shared her cancer diagnosis in a video message last month. Kate admitted her diagnosis following abdominal surgery in January came as a “huge shock”.

Since the news, people across the nation have sent their support to Kate and rallied around the future Queen. But now, it appears she has ‘broken tradition’ following a recent gesture.

Kate Middleton makes sweet gesture amid cancer treatment

This week, it was reported that Kensington Palace had sent thank you notes to the public for their “kind” messages about Kate.

Thank you for your kind well wishes to Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales.

As seen on Hello, some lucky Brits received a postcard adorned with the palace’s letterhead.

The short note on the card read: “Thank you for your kind well wishes to Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales. Your thoughtful gesture is very much appreciated.”

A break from tradition

The palace usually sends out cards on special occasions, including Christmas. Thank you cards are often also sent to members of the public from the royal family.

However, the recent postcard from Kate was left blank on one side – which is unusual as messages from the Palace are usually accompanied by a snap.

The most recent example of this was when William and Kate sent a card that featured their Christmas 2023 family photo.

Kate Middleton and William’s ‘anxiety’

It comes after a royal expert claimed that Prince William and Kate are feeling “intense anxiety” about becoming the next King and Queen.

Their anxiety will, no doubt, have been escalated by the health battles the royal family are currently facing.

Both Kate, 42, and King Charles, 75, are battling unspecified cancers. Royal expert Tina Brown has now given an insight into how the future King and Queen may be feeling.

Writing in the New York Times, Tina claimed: “News of Charles’s cancer has put William and Catherine in frightening proximity to ascending the throne. They had hoped for a span of years to parent their children out of the public eye. The prospect of it, I am told, is causing them intense anxiety.”

Tina continued to note: “Catherine is the most popular member of the royal family after William. The future of the monarchy hangs by a thread, and that thread is her.”

Kate Middleton shock video announcement

Filmed whilst sitting in the sunshine on a bench, the Princess of Wales thanked the public for their concern and well wishes after undergoing abdominal surgery and stepping away from the spotlight. Kate’s illness caused countless conspiracy theories and rumours to spiral, which the mum-of-three put to rest in her touching message.

In the video, Kate said: “In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.

“This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”
