Reality star Sam Thompson has shared a new health diagnosis with his Instagram followers, admitting he “knew there was more to the story”.
This Morning regular Sam, 32, revealed in 2023 he’d been diagnosed with ADHD. He appeared in a Channel 4 documentary that explored his lifelong struggles with inattention and disorganisation that same year.
Sam reflected at the time: “ADHD is a blessing and a curse. But it is the hyper-focus element of it, when I get hyper-focused on something I enjoy, I love it.”
But now the ex I’m A Celebrity winner – on a repeat of Deal of No Deal today (May 26) – has explained he also has autism, too.

Sam Thompson on autism diagnosis
The former Made in Chelsea cast member revealed his health news over the weekend on social media.
He uploaded a light-hearted video to Instagram on Sunday (May 25) depicting two different Sams. One Sam represented Sam, and the other was the personification of his ADHD.
Text placed above Sam read: “You got diagnosed with ADHD in your late twenties but something still doesn’t add up.”
The clip then introduced a third version of Sam in an inflatable dinosaur costume. Walking around the corner with a huge smile, the word “autism” appeared over his head.

Reaction to Sam Thompson health news
Fans applauded Sam for how he delivered his autism update on social media.
“Love this!” said one Insta follower, adding several clapping emojis to their words. “Thank you, as always, for raising awareness and being a great role model.”
“Welcome to the gang, life truly makes sense from this point onwards!” someone else told Sam.

And a third person gushed: “A guy not being afraid to speak up and share his diagnosis and doing it with humour, is a superpower in my opinion. That kind of openness will definitely help others on their journey too.”

Sam Thompson on ADHD
Since his initial ADHD reveal, Sam has addressed how he lives with his condition on several occasions.
He’s also shared how he believes his then-undiagnosed ADHD may have been responsible for how he felt when he was younger.
Sam said in April 2024: “I work in an environment where my ADHD is celebrated as part of who I am, and I am incredibly lucky. However, I also know that this is not the case everywhere, especially in schools.
“I remember being younger and feeling different and not understanding why. When I was in school, I wished I had someone to tell me that I was ok. And someone to tell me that it wasn’t because I was stupid, I didn’t care, and that I was intentionally not paying attention. It was because I had undiagnosed ADHD.
Additionally, Sam said: “I really hope that I can be a small part of young people accepting themselves for who they are, neurodiverse or not.”
