Fresh heartache for the Nolans as family cancer death announced months after loss of Linda

'She fought for everyone else, now we’ve lost them both'

Singer Linda Nolan’s stepson, Lloyd Hudson, has died following a battle with cancer.

According to reports, he died on Tuesday (May 6) after being diagnosed with incurable throat cancer in September 2023.

The heartbreaking news arrived after Linda tragically died in January from contracting double pneumonia after battling cancer for over 20 years. She was laid to rest in Blackpool, where her family and countless friends showed their respects.

The service took place where she and her late husband, Brian Hudson, got married in 1981. He died in 2007.

In a statement shared by a family friend, Linda and Lloyd were “fighting side by side”.

“Linda would finish her treatment and text him to check in. They joked about their meds, shared their side effects, cried together too. Linda really thought he’d outlive her. She needed that belief,” they said.

According to MailOnline, Lloyd’s cousin shared on Facebook that his father wouldn’t “accept this is true”.

He stated that cancer had “ripped my family apart on both sides and every angle for the past five months”, adding: “I’m done with being positive right now.”

A friend insisted Linda would be “screaming that this isn’t fair”.

They added: “Lloyd wasn’t just Brian’s son, he became Linda’s too. She loved him with all her heart. She fought for everyone else, now we’ve lost them both. It’s more than any family should bear. They had a special relationship.”

‘I just want cancer to leave us alone’

Following Linda’s death, her brother, Brian Nolan, received the unsettling news that he had stage 2 prostate cancer just three days later, becoming the fifth of the Nolan siblings to battle the disease.

“I just want cancer to leave us alone,” he told OK!, declaring it felt like he had been “hit by a train” after finding out.

“You start plunging into the abyss of: ‘I’m going to die,'” he added.

“The urologist stood up and said: ‘We’re going to treat this and we’re going to cure this.’ I’m focusing on that and hope to God I can have the courage my sisters had.”

Fortunately for Linda’s brother Brian and his family, the cancer has not spread further. He revealed he will need to have surgery to have his prostate gland removed.
