Father of the Bride star Diane Keaton dies aged 79 as tributes pour in

Her family have asked for privacy at this heartbreaking time

The death of Hollywood actress Diane Keaton has been announced tonight (October 11).

Diane, much loved for movies such as Father of the Bride, The Godfather, The First Wives Club and Something’s Gotta Give, was 79 years old.

Death of Diane Keaton announced

The death of Diane Keaton was confirmed by People. It reported that the legendary actress died in California. It added: “Further details are not available at this time, and her loved ones have asked for privacy, according to a family spokesperson.”

The actress rose to fame in the 1970s thanks to her role in The Godfather films and her collaborations with director Woody Allen. She won an Oscar for Best Actress for 1977’s Annie Hall.

She never married, but adopted two children – daughter Dexter and son Duke. “Motherhood was not an urge I couldn’t resist, it was more like a thought I’d been thinking for a very long time. So I plunged in,” she told Ladies’ Home Journal in 2008.

‘Devastated’

Tributes have poured in.

“Rest in Peace Diane Keaton,” said one fan. “Is it true? I am devastated at the news that #DianeKeaton has passed away. My absolute favorite actress. RIP Diane Keaton,” another posted. “Wow. DIANE KEATON IS DEAD. 79 years-old. Too young,” said a third.

“I’m not processing this. Not Diane Keaton,” another commented. “Rest in peace Diane Keaton. She set standard for being nice and beautiful,” another said. “Ohhhhhh how this hurts my heart… Diane Keaton, an absolute fave on screen and off,” another commented.

“The First Wives Club is one of my all-time favorite movies. Diane Keaton will be forever missed,” another concluded sadly.
