This Morning labelled ‘totally irresponsible’ by fans over facelift interview

Jade Mandongwe was six weeks post-surgery

| Updated:

This Morning has upset swathes of its viewership by allowing a young facelift patient to come on the show.

During today’s (November 24) episode, Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley opened the floor for trainee solicitor Jade Mandongwe to talk about her recent surgeries. She was six weeks post-procedure, having paid approximately £10,000 for a mid-facelift, a brow lift, and breast augmentation in Turkey.

At just 28 years of age, fans argued that exposing Jade’s story to malleable minds maybe watching at home was “irresponsible”. Others took the opportunity to slam surgeons who accept clients like her.

ITV’s This Morning fans react to Jade’s interview

Viewers took their opinions over to X as Ben, Cat, and plastic surgeon William Townley shared their two pence on the matter.

“#ThisMorning as per usual being totally irresponsible by having someone like this on,” was one of the fieriest reactions.

Another person wrote: “Stop giving attention seeking people like this the publicity #ThisMorning.”

While a third X user worried how Jade was “going to look when she is 40”.

“There is nothing at all wrong with natural ageing. It’s normal,” was a separate perspective. “Ladies don’t need face-lifts or breast enlargements. Be happy with what you have. Nature is perfect.”

“Why are young girls doing this – clearly it’s just get this certain ‘look’. She’s lovely but please no more,” pleaded another fan of the show.

Why did Jade get a facelift?

At the beginning of this controversial segment, Cat asked Jade what she was aiming to better about herself with these procedures.

“It was about rejuvenation. I was beginning to look very tired,” she replied. “I’d gone through a weight loss journey in the past and I felt like my skin wasn’t necessarily ageing to a point where I needed a complete facelift. It was only a mid-facelift. I did start to notice that I want to look more refreshed and leave the house without having to wear loads of makeup, and that’s been one of the best results for me.”

Meanwhile, fellow This Morning guest William brought some balance to the equation by confirming he wouldn’t recommend these surgeries to anybody Jade’s age.

That’s because the “stakes” are higher when you’re younger and the “potential complications” last longer. He went on to advocate for “reconstructive” surgeries as opposed to what Jade had done.

“Generally with patients in their twenties without an underlying condition, you’re not treating ageing at that stage. You’re actually changing someone’s appearance.”
