The Chase viewers annoyed as contestant turns down £70K offer – the value of her house

Others were gutted she didn't take the high offer

The Chase viewers were left stunned when a contestant turned down £70,000, which is how much she bought her house for.

Sammy, from Doncaster, appeared on the game show on Wednesday night and managed to bag £4,000 in the cash builder round.

The quizzer was given the option to either take £1,000 and gain an extra step ahead of the Chaser, stick with her £4,000 or gamble the money she’d won to take home a whopping £70K.

Sammy decided to stick with the £4,000, rather than risk going for the higher amount and going home with nothing.

Speaking about the £70K offer, Sammy told host Bradley Walsh: “That’s how much I bought my house for.”

Viewers were shocked by her revelation as the average cost of an one bedroom flat in some parts of London can be up to £400,000.

Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: “£70k for her house, does she live in a [expletive] shed?”

Another said: “As if you can get a house for 70 grand in some places I hate London sometimes,” while a third added: “70k for a house!! Can’t even get a static caravan for that near me.”

Others were annoyed that Sammy didn’t take the higher offer.

One person said: “Sammy – If you are in SEAT 4, and ON YOUR OWN, you GO HIGH!!!! #TheChase.”

Another tweeted: “Really want Sammy to win but she should’ve gone high #TheChase,” while a third added: “She should have just gone for the high offer! Chances of winning the final chase is slim, might as well go big! #TheChase.”

Sammy managed to make it through to the final round on her own as she played for £4,000.

However, after bagging 12 steps, Sammy was caught by the Chaser with 48 seconds remaining on the clock.
