Strictly fans ‘shocked’ as next couple to leave the show revealed: ‘Wasn’t expecting that!’

Balvinder Sopal and Ross King had to dance again…

Strictly Come Dancing stars Ross King and Balvinder Sopal were in the dance-off on tonight’s show – but who left the BBC ballroom series?

Last night, the cast of Strictly Come Dancing 2025 brought the magic of the movies to life as part of the show’s Movie Week.

Cynthia Erivo joined the panel, but complaints poured in when she was ‘banned’ from scoring. Vicky Pattison, meanwhile, appeared “upset” over some harsh criticism from the judges.

But who survived to dance another day and move one step closer to that Glitterball Trophy?

Who left Strictly Come Dancing tonight?

Tonight’s results show (October 12) saw Ross and Balvinder in the bottom two. And, after they both performed their dances again – Ross, a Thunderbirds-themed paso doble, and Balvinder a foxtrot – it was over to the judges to cast their votes.

In a unanimous decision, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke all voted to save Balvinder. Shirley Ballas, this week’s head judge, was then asked, if she had been called upon to vote, who would she have saved?

Despite what viewers saw as harsh criticism from Shirley to Balvinder on Saturday night, she still chose to save the EastEnders star. So Ross King was eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing tonight.

Ross heaps praise on Jowita

Ross told host Tess Daly: “I have loved every single minute of it. I would like to say thank you to everyone who has supported us, all the people who voted – they’ve been amazing. I want to thank everyone here in this room, backstage, the judges, the crew – every single person here has made me so, so welcome.”

Turning to pro partner Jowita Przystal, he added: “And, I want to thank a very special lady who has been with me through it all and has been absolutely everything: she’s been a mentor, teacher, carer… I could not have wished for a better partner, and I could not have wished to be on a better show. Thank you judges for all your remarks.”

Viewers react

Although the majority agreed it was Ross’ time to leave, many were sad to see him go.

One commented: “I know he wasn’t a good dancer but really wanted him to stay in it longer and see him improve.” “Correct decision. I do feel bad for Jowita though, she’s a beautiful dancer,” said a second.

“I’m honestly shocked Chris [Robshaw] was safe,” another commented. “Here we go again. Is it a dancing competition or a popularity contest? Nobody in week three is going to be perfect, but there were others who should have been in the dance-off,” another said.

Another agreed and said: “I agree that the correct one left, watching him dance was painful. However, who should have been there with him? Probably Chris, based on skills. You can’t control popularity votes through dance ability though.”

“Wasn’t expecting that!! Thought it would have been Chris!!” another declared. “I did not expect that result! She did not deserve to be in the dance off. I honestly thought it would be Chris and Ross. The right one has been voted off,” another added.
