Strictly Come Dancing viewers have rallied round judge Craig Revel Horwood after the live studio audience booed his constructive feedback once again last night.
Craig, who has a reputation as the show’s Mr Nasty, is also the panel’s longest-serving judge. He’s been there since the very first episode back in 2004. So it’s fair to say he knows what he’s talking about.
Strictly fans share their support for panto villain Craig Revel Horwood
Last night, as Craig started to give his critique of Vicky Pattison’s American Smooth, he was met with a chorus of boos from the studio audience.
But those watching at home have urged audience members to be kind to Craig, stating that sometimes he’s the only one of the four judges who speaks sense…
Craig Revel Horwood’s critique of Strictly star Vicky Pattison
He told Vicky: “I would’ve liked to have seen a little more reach in your arms,” as the boos started to ring out. Ignoring, them Craig carried on: “Extension, smoother transitions from one movement to the next. I could see when the lifts were about to happen because I could see the preparation…”
Prompting more boos, he added: “I’d have liked a nicer shape when you’re up in the lift in flight, you just have to make sure that looks beautiful. And you could’ve used the music a little bit more.
“But more and more every week you’re becoming loads more confident and it’s just so wonderful to see.”
He ended up scoring Vicky a seven, with Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke all awarding an eight. Motsi even made Vicky cry with her comments, telling her she’s a serious contender for the final!
‘Here we go…’
Watching at home, the pantomime reaction to Craig’s comments irked viewers.
One said: “Petition to stop booing Craig.” Another agreed and said: “I’m all for the panto element of this show but why does Craig get booed when he’s giving genuine constructive criticism?”
A third commented: “Here we go…the audience booing Craig for giving proper feedback….. you are soooo boringly predictable. Give it a rest week after week it’s now boring.” Another added: “Craig gives fair constructive feedback… audience: boo!”
