Emmerdale fans convinced a swear word slipped past the water-shed rule last night

There's an innocent explanation

Hang on – did Doug Potts just drop a certain naughty word before the watershed?

That’s what Emmerdale fans were asking themselves last night during a conversation about gardening.

However, we can assure you it wasn’t the potty-mouthed outburst it may have seemed!

As Doug got to handing out manual labour tasks to Liv and Gerry, he said:

“There’s a toilet blocked in room three.

“Gerry will point you towards the plunger.”

When Liv replied “I thought I was out here?”, that was when the apparent swear word was dropped.

Doug replied: “Do you know the difference between chitting and dibbing?”

So, he said chitting! Not… the other thing.

Fans on social media were clearly confused over the not so rude word, asking if he had in fact used a certain word beginning with S.

Chitting is encouraging potatoes to sprout by putting them in a cool spot.

While dibbing is using a stick to make a hole to plant seeds.
