Celebrity Traitors star Jonathan Ross has spilled the beans on why he thinks he was thrown under the bus by his fellow Traitors, Alan Carr and Cat Burns.
The 64-year-old was finally banished at last night’s (29 October) Round Table, marking him as the first Traitor to be caught out by the Faithful.
And it was a moment that had fans on tenterhooks. Viewers watched as singer Cat and funnyman Alan decided to turn on Jonathan, who had been under mounting suspicion for days.
While chatshow host Jonathan was seen as the leader of the trio of Traitors, he has since revealed that Cat was the best player in the BBC One game.

Celebrity Traitors: Jonathan Ross on why Alan and Cat voted for him
Speaking on The Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked, Jonathan told host Ed Gamble he was certain his fate was sealed that day. With growing distrust from the Faithful, coupled with exhaustion from previous murders, Jonathan believed his time on the series was up.
“I genuinely thought I’d be the first to go,” he explained. “I was pretty certain I was being voted out that day, and was starting to struggle with [the game] more than Alan and Cat.
“Cat was the smartest of the three of us. She understood how the game was actually playing in the moment.”

Earlier in the series, the pair had a secret chat in the kitchen. This occurred when many of the Faithful had openly voiced their doubts about whether Jonathan was a Faithful.
At this moment, a giggling Alan asked Cat whether she’d vote for Jonathan. Cat ruthlessly replied: “I think I would have to do it.”
However, Jonathan seemingly had no hard feelings about his backstabbing fellow Traitors.

“I’d rather it was me that went first,” he said. “I didn’t want to see either of them caught out, I just wanted to see one Traitor make it to the end.”
Jonathan ‘upset’ at Lucy’s murder
Jonathan’s admission that he was “struggling” in the series may be a surprise to some viewers. As Ed pointed out on Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked, many saw him as the ‘lead’ Traitor.
However, it was the face-to-face murder that really left Jonathan struggling with his role in the series.
Last week’s (Thursday 23 October) ended with a dramatic cliffhanger. One of three celebrities faced a banishment where they met their murderers face-to-face on a chessboard.

While Nick Mohammed and Kate Garraway met Celebrity Traitors host Claudia Winkleman, it was comedian Lucy Beaumont who had the ‘honour’ of a face-to-face murder.
Jonathan thought he’d be able to laugh off the incident. But seeing how disappointed Lucy was put him off his traitorous stride.
“I had no appetite for murder anymore after killing Lucy,” he said. “We murdered such a sweet, innocent woman from Hull! I was genuinely upset to do that.”
Jonathan’s reaction to banishment
The legendary chat show host may not have made it to the final, but Jonathan can be proud of one thing; he has one of the best exits from The Traitors in history.

After receiving the most votes from the faithful, the star stood at the roundtables – and berated his fellow players. “I can’t believe you’ve done it again!” he laughed. “I don’t want to be rude, but you’re idiots!”
Upon seeing Joe Marler’s disappointed reaction, Jonathan added: “I have been completely faithful…to The Traitors.”
When quizzed on his dramatic departure on Uncloaked, Jonathan said: “I wanted to see how far I could take it…until Claudia got nervous. When I saw Joe’s face, I knew I’d achieved something.”
However, despite the Faithful’s repeated failed attempts to find Traitors, Jonathan doesn’t think the celebrity cohort was necessarily bad at the intricate game.
“There’s just so many moving parts,” he said. “I don’t think they were stupid or bad at the game. We were just a little luckier than we deserved to be.”
