Amanda Holden and her nan Myrtle have left fans baffled after their new E4 show began this week.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge, 50, had previously teased her upcoming project with her beloved nan earlier this year.

And last month Amanda shared a first glimpse of the series. Already it wasn’t exactly how some fans had expected.

The Holden Girls: Mandy & Myrtle

Amanda’s latest project – The Holden Girls: Mandy & Myrtle – sees the star welcome her nan into her home.

Amanda says on camera: “Asking my nan to move in with me is going to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.”

Who is Amanda Holden’s nan Myrtle?

If some would-be viewers were confused after seeing the teaser –  convinced Myrtle was actually someone wearing prosthetics and putting on an accent – the debut episode left them even more baffled.

Some thought Ant or Dec is hiding behind the canny mask.

Most guessed Myrtle was none other than Leigh Francis, the man behind Keith Lemon and the rubbery faces on Bo’Selecta!

We revealed that Myrtle’s true identity had actually been given away in listings for the show!

Amazingly, after watching, some viewers still weren’t sure whether Myrtle was real or not!

What has Amanda Holden said about her nan Myrtle?

Amanda has kept pretty tight-lipped on the upcoming project.

Amanda Holden is also yet to address the speculation that the character isn’t her real nan.

However, the star did open up about the E4 series back in May.

The presenter told The Sun: “I’m delighted that everyone is finally going to meet my nan. The apple never falls far from my tree and in this series she will certainly be keeping me on my toes.”

Meanwhile, Myrtle shared: “I have no comment, apart from I’m really hoping being on TV might mean I can finally meet my favourite young man, Ben Shephard.”

It’s believed they filmed the eight-part series while Amanda worked on other projects.

What have Myrtle and Channel 4 said about the show?

Amanda Holden’s nan Myrtle said: “I have no comment, apart from I’m really hoping being on TV might mean I can finally meet my favourite young man, Ben Shephard.”

Channel 4 Commissioning Editor, Steven Handley said: “Amanda is one of the UK’s most well-known stars and we are thrilled to get insight into her life with her nan.”
