Emmerdale OPINION: Chas can never be forgiven – Lucy Pargeter deserves so much better

Chas needs to go!

Emmerdale has taken Chas Dingle too far. Fans can never forgive her, she is beyond repair and their only option now is to kill her off.

Chas came into Emmerdale 20 years ago and quickly became an iconic character.

However over the last few years the soap has completely destroyed the character and she is beyond redemption.

Emmerdale: Chas blames everyone but herself

For months Chas has been having an affair with Al Chapman, secretly meeting up with him.

Viewers know she is married to the lovely Paddy, but selfish Chas feels he drove her to having an affair – because she can’t ever take accountability for her actions.

She has blamed absolutely everybody else, other than herself. It’s almost like she is blind to the fact she is in control of this; she didn’t have to jump into bed with Al and she certainly didn’t have to agree to move away with him.

The exact moment she became irredeemable was when she blamed Paddy for her affair with Al.

Paddy, who only wants to do right by her, love her, be there for her and care for her.

Paddy, who apparently was off at conferences all the time – that no one else seems to remember other than Chas – leaving her to work and look after their daughter. Because no other mother has had to do those things.

She also tried to say that Paddy was always going to see her cousin Marlon and never spent time with her.

But of course selfish Chas, who never thinks of anyone but herself, seems to have forgot that Marlon had a stroke and Paddy was trying to help look after him!

How dare she blame Cain?!

Chas also seems to have forgotten that she’s been leaving little Eve with Paddy or other family members while she goes off to hotels with Al.

I mean, except for the one time she actually took Eve to a sleepover with Al. And knowing Chas she’ll probably blame that on Paddy too.

Then this week, when Al was shot dead and Chas’s brother, Cain, arrested for it, Chas had the utter front to blame him for her affair!

She visited her brother in prison and told him he was at fault because he’d told her to “do whatever she needed” to to cope with their mother Faith’s terminal cancer diagnosis. Faith then died without Chas by her side because where was she? You guessed it: with Al.

Has Chas got her dates mixed up? Because her affair started well before Cain said that to her.

Chas agreed to lie for Cain in keeping her affair secret, therefore saving her skin and not giving him a motive. However, she insisted she would “never forgive him”.

Her constant whinging and ‘poor me’ act is getting old now.

Emmerdale: Chas is irredeemable and needs to go

Even losing her mother, when Faith died of cancer last month, didn’t make us feel sympathy for Chas.

She drove her son Aaron out of town when he learned of the affair.

And fans are definite that she was directly responsible for both Al’s death and Liv’s.

Liv died when she was trying to get to the pub to look after Chas’s daughter when Chas was in hospital. Chas was in hospital because she was injured when she was with Al, trying to stop him leaving.

And Al’s death came about after Cain discovered the affair and confronted his nemesis.

Fans will never forgive

Viewers at home completely agree: there’s just nothing they can do to redeem her.

“Chas has basically now got three deaths on her conscience. Faith, didn’t get to say goodbye. Liv – Who never would have needed to go check on her after the storm if she wasn’t busy trying stop Al from leaving and Al himself. He’d totally still be alive if she’d just let him go,” raged one.

Another agreed: “Both Liv and Al’s deaths were down to Chas. Yes, Al deserved his death. But still.”

Fans also believe it’s the end for Chas, she’s done and there’s no way back.

“The Chas character is done, no going back from this, get rid of the cow once and for all,” said one.

“Fuming that Chas Dingle’s character has been absolutely ruined by this Al affair storyline. FUMING!” agreed another.

A third said: “Chas using her own dead mother and Cain as an excuse for her own actions is sinking to the lowest of the low. Forgiveness should never be given to Chas.”

Many are now demanding she is killed off. Is there really any other way forward for her character?

“Seriously. Kill off Chas. The vilest character. Cares more for some crappy gangsta she was humping than her own mum,” said one.

A second added: “When are they going to kill off Chas? I cannot bear her.”

“It’s so hard for me to imagine Chas being redeemed from this that I’m just expecting her to die in a fire. Thanks, Emmerdale for absolutely destroying a long-term character for short-term overly-dramatic gain,” cried a third.

Lucy Pargeter deserves better

After Lucy Pargeter’s simply stunning performance when Chas lost baby Grace, this feels like a kick in the teeth for the actress.

She is so much better than the material Emmerdale is feeding her. Why are they making us hate her beyond the point of redemption? Quite frankly even a complete breakdown wouldn’t be enough to save her at this point.

The fact Lucy has made viewers hate Chas goes to show just how good an actress she is. Which makes it all the more upsetting how awful the soap has made her.

I just feel like they’ve turned Chas into some sort of horrible monster.

Lucy deserves better than this.
