Princess Kate’s family rally amid cancer diagnosis: From ‘desperately upset’ Carole to James’ pledge and Uncle Gary’s apology after faux pas

The royal's illness will make the close-knit Middletons stronger than ever

Kate Middleton’s family will be an invaluable support to the royal amid her cancer diagnosis. In fact, her brother James has already publicly showed his support for his big sister.

On Friday (March 22), a video of Kate was released in which she revealed she had been diagnosed with cancer.

As she undergoes treatment away from the spotlight, her nearest and dearest will doubtless be rallying round. And the close-knit Middleton family is predicted to come out of Kate‘s health troubles stronger than ever…

Princess Kate cancer diagnosis: Carole Middleton ‘upset’

Royal expert Jennie Bond spoke to The Mirror about how Kate’s parents would be feeling.

Carole and Michael Middleton live close to the Prince and Princess of Wales’ Adelaide Cottage in Windsor.

Royal fans will have already seen Kate and Carole together in a car driving around Windsor. And it’s claimed that both Carole and Michael have been helping with school runs for Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis following Kate’s abdominal surgery.

Jennie has now said that royal fans should “spare a thought” for the Princess of Wales’ mother, as she comes to terms with her daughter’s diagnosis.

The two women are incredibly close. And, as a result, Carole will also need “reassurance” that her eldest is going to be okay.

Jennie said: “We should also spare a thought for another mother in this – Carole Middleton.

“Catherine may be 42, but she is still Carole’s little girl. To watch her go through this and withstand the bullying pressure to explain must have been desperately upsetting.”

Jennie then added: “She has no doubt been a tower of strength and a comforting presence for the children, but she, too, will need reassurance.”

James Middleton: ‘We will climb this mountain with you’

Kate’s younger brother James, 36, posted a childhood picture of himself and Kate in the hours after her diagnosis was shared.

It showed a young Kate and James posing together in front of a hilly backdrop.

He posted: “Over the years, we have climbed many mountains together. As a family, we will climb this one with you too.”

Pippa Middleton: ‘A best friend she can confide in’

Kate’s younger sister Pippa, 40, has previously spoken of her close relationship with her sibling. And, she said back in 2014, that they “spend a lot of time together” despite the “pressures” of Kate’s royal role.

We’re very close. And we support each other.

Speaking to Today, Pippa said: “We still do a lot together as a family. I think that’s really the heart for all of us is having a really close family that we can sort of be normal with each other, treat each other normally. And that’s sort of kept us all, you know, affixed to the ground.”

Pippa said at the time that she calls Kate any time she wants a bit of “girl talk” and said they have a “normal sisterly relationship”.

“We’re very close. And, you know, we support each other and get each other’s opinions and things,” she said.

So it’s thought Kate will be leaning on Pippa more than ever following her diagnosis.

A source told the Times: “The three siblings are incredibly tight. Pippa not only as a sister but as a best friend she can confide in. They are extremely loyal to one another.”

Gary Goldsmith: ‘Deeply upsetting timing’

Despite alleging he was close with his niece during his time in the Celebrity Big Brother house, it appears Gary Goldsmith wasn’t privy to the news about Kate’s cancer diagnosis ahead of her video statement.

As a result, and in a particularly bad case of bad timing, an interview he gave to The Times hit newsstands hours after Kate’s video was released.

In the interview, he spoke about Kate’s whereabouts, the state of her marriage to Prince William, and even the failure of her family’s business.

Clearly flustered over his faux pas, Gary issued a full apology.

Posting on social media, he said: “As many will have seen, I am featured in Saturday’s Times Magazine. This interview and shoot was done over a week ago and went to print before I was aware of the sad news regarding my niece Kate.

“My thoughts and prayers are with Kate and the wider family at this difficult time and deeply upset at the timing of this article. I hope this draws a line over the continued speculation and horrible conspiracies. Let’s give Kate, William and the children time and show some love back.”
