This Morning star Michelle Elman reveals she needs ‘another brain surgery’: ‘I will have to pause my life and deal with this’

Michelle lives with hydrocephalus

This Morning star Michelle Elman is having to undergo brain surgery again after a scan revealed a new cyst.

The 32-year-old life coach, who appears on the ITV daytime show as an expert, opened up about her health via social media.

Michelle lives with a condition called hydrocephalus. According to the NHS, it is “a build-up of fluid in the brain. The excess fluid puts pressure on the brain, which can damage it.”

Michelle Elman reveals she needs ‘another brain surgery’

In a post shared to her Instagram story today (November 19), Michelle wrote: “Yesterday I found out I need another brain surgery. I have a cyst in my brain again and also the magnet in my brain needs replacing.”

“It’s not urgent but it is needed so now I have to figure out when to schedule this so it disrupts my life as little as possible.”

Michelle added: “Inevitably, I will have to pause my life and go deal with this, likelihood it will be next year, but until then it’s business as usual.”

She admitted that her “medical record is rarely simple, so ultimately I’m doing my best to make peace with all”.

Michelle declared she has “lived a great life,” where she has “milked every moment I’ve had in this world”. She concluded with: “So can’t complain.”

‘I finally stopped thinking about what I looked like’

In an open letter for Cosmopolitan in 2018, Michelle revealed that she had already undergone many surgeries by the time she was 19.

“Over the course of my life, I’ve had 15 surgeries; from a brain tumour to a punctured intestine, an obstructed bowel, a cyst in my brain and a condition called Hydrocephalus,” she said.

After landing back in the hospital following many visits, Michelle revealed it made her “stop taking everything for granted”. As a result, she admitted it made her gain “body confidence” by “getting out there, living my life and using my body”.

“Starting to walk and run made me develop a core fundamental respect for my body for its ability to keep me standing and breathing. Saying yes to opportunities meant I focused on them instead of my appearance, and being completely absorbed in my life and how wonderful it is to be alive meant that I finally stopped thinking about what I looked like,” Michelle continued.
