Steps star Lee Latchford-Evans previously reflected on the tragic death of his beloved father.
The singer – who is on Katie Piper‘s Weekend Escape (July 13) – was left heartbroken in 2018 when his father, Billy passed away at the age of 65.
A few months after Billy died, Lee opened up about his death, revealing he had died following an undiagnosed problem.

Steps star Lee’s father Billy passed away in 2018 when he was 65. He had several health problems over the years, such as Type 2 diabetes and a stroke. He also had early-stage throat cancer in 2014.
We had no idea he had a heart problem until he died.
“Fortunately the cancer was picked up early and he had treatment which was successful,” Lee told Express in 2018.
The singer revealed that Billy managed to get through the battle and “seemed to be doing well in himself” – with Lee sharing that he went back to work doing an active manual job.

Lee reveals ‘we had no idea’
However, Lee’s dad would later sadly die due to an undiagnosed heart problem.
He shared: “Some days he said he didn’t feel great but we had no idea he had a heart problem until he died.”
Tragically, in the same year that Lee’s father died, his wife Kerry’s mother also passed away and the couple suffered a miscarriage – 10 weeks into Kerry’s pregnancy.
Lee and wife’s ‘nightmare’ year
Speaking about the horrendous time, Kerry told OK! magazine: “It was a complete blur.” Lee added: “It felt like a nightmare.”
Lee also shared on Loose Women: “We had four months of hell, for all that to happen, two parents, a pet and a baby all within four months. It was a horrific time, and since then we have been trying and trying. It brought us closer together.”
Fast forward to 2021, and Lee and Kerry announced the happy news that they were expecting their first child. Their son, Leo William Keith Latchford-Evans, was born on July 23.
