TV star Stephen Mulhern previously opened up about no longer working alongside Holly Willoughby.
Over the years, Holly and Stephen – back with a Deal or No Deal repeat today (March 19) – have remained good friends and have regularly hosted alongside one another.
Their last project was the ill-fated Dancing On Ice, with ITV axing the skating show after the 2025 series. The year before that, Holly and Stephen teamed up to host the relaunch of ITV’s You Bet! However, it was then revealed that Holly had decided to ditch the show and leave pal Stephen to present it alone.

And, speaking last spring, Stephen seemed baffled by Holly’s decision to stop presenting You Bet! alongside him…
Stephen Mulhern reacts to Holly Willoughby stepping down from role
In a May 2025 interview, Stephen admitted he was “gutted” that Holly decided to step down from her role.
“I’m gutted she’s not doing You Bet! with me, but I’ve had time to think about it and Bruce Forsyth was the first person to do You Bet! and he did it on his own,” he told TV Biz.
Looking on the positive side of things, Stephen said: “Maybe it happened for a reason. We’ve filmed one episode already without Holly, and it felt very comfortable. Maybe it is just a one-presenter show.”
Stephen admitted Holly did get in touch with him and arranged to break the news. He explained: “She just said: ‘Look, sorry, I can’t do it.’ She told me face to face. She said: ‘Look, I’m gutted but it’s all over.'”
You Bet! ‘axed’
After Holly stepped back, Stephen presented You Bet! On Tour. Holly did appear as a panelist.
However, after just one series, that was given the boot by ITV. In February, ITV confirmed that another series is not on the cards.
In a statement, an ITV spokesperson said: “You Bet! returned to ITV in 2024 with a peak overnight audience of 4.4m. Both You Bet! and You Bet! On Tour are available to watch on ITVX.”
Despite those figures, the spokesperson added: “There are currently no plans for a new series of You Bet! On Tour.”
