Understandably for a young girl, though, she is still keen to carry on with her normal life – even if it means risking her health.

When Debbie gets a second opinion from another doctor, she is heartbroken when he agrees with the original diagnosis – that Sarah is very ill indeed.

However, fed up of being wrapped in cotton wool, Sarah pretends she’s well enough to attend the school dance.

But the truth is, she’s feeling sick and deliberately ignoring the doctor’s advice, who has warned her to rest as she waits for an urgent heart transplant.

While she’s at the dance, however, Sarah struggles to breathe properly…

When Samson finds Sarah in a bad way, he offers to take her home – but she’s determined to stay, no matter what.

But will she regret ignoring doctor’s orders?

Meanwhile, consultants tell Debbie what Sarah’s future looks like – how long can she survive without a heart donor?

The schoolgirl has already been through so much in her short life.

In 2012, Debbie and Andy Sugden welcomed the arrival of baby Jack as a ‘saviour sibling’ after Sarah was diagnosed with Fanconi anaemia – a rare genetic disorder – and needed a bone barrow transplant.

In early 2017, it was revealed that Sarah had cancer.

Her heart failure is a rare side effect of the chemotherapy she received as a result.
