‘Truth’ behind claims Prince William ‘threatened to remove Beatrice and Eugenie’s titles’ amid Andrew scandal

William isn't happy with his uncle apparently

| Updated:

Reports claimed that Prince William issued a threat amid his bid to have Prince Andrew removed from the Royal Lodge.

However, this may not be the case.

The claims came just days after Andrew, 65, agreed to no longer use his royal title. The decision came as Andrew faced more scrutiny over his association with Jeffrey Epstein.

He also made headlines due to his accuser Virginia Giuffre’s posthumous memoir being released. Ms Giuffre accused the prince of sexual assault. The royal has always vehemently denied any allegations made against him.

Prince Andrew to leave the Royal Lodge after two decades?

Prince William reportedly threatened to strip Andrew’s daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, of their titles if Andrew and Sarah refused to vacate the Royal Lodge, according to Emily Maitlis.

Maitlis, of course, was who interviewed Prince Andrew in his infamous Newsnight appearance back in 2019.

Andrew and Sarah, who have lived at Royal Lodge together – though in separate wings – since 2004 and 2008 respectively, could reportedly be made to leave soon amid scandal surrounding them both.

However, it’s also been claimed that the former royal couple are being put under pressure to pack up and move out by their daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie.

Maitlis, during an appearance on the News Agents podcast, claimed William had issued the sisters with an ultimatum in a bid to get Andrew and Fergie moving.

William’s ‘ultimatum’

“There was a question over whether there had been, earlier in the day, a meeting between Prince William and the princesses, Beatrice and Eugenie, saying you guys have to get your dad to move out of Royal Lodge, otherwise we will start re-examining the state of your own titles,” she claimed.

Maitlis continued, saying: “They are at the moment allowed to be princesses, but there was a bit of pressure, we understand, being put on the princesses to say this is going to happen.”

Maitlis added that William recognised that Andrew wants to keep Beatrice and Eugenie happy. She claimed that Charles was going to go to Royal Lodge and “read the riot act” to his younger brother.

‘Truth’ behind William’s threat to Eugenie and Beatrice

However, according to The Sun, a palace source said that no such meeting between William, Beatrice, and Eugenie took place.

The publication also pointed out that William doesn’t have the power to strip Beatrice and Eugenie of their princess titles.

The removal of a royal’s prince/princess title can only be done via an Act of Parliament.

Andrew and Fergie’s demands over Royal Lodge move

According to reports, Andrew is willing to leave Royal Lodge, but there are conditions.

Speaking to The Sun, a source claimed: “Andy is willing to leave, but these are his demands. He is realistic and knows the writing is on the wall and that his time at Royal Lodge is up. If he must go, then he has asked for Frogmore Cottage. Incredibly, Sarah has said she wants Adelaide Cottage.”

Fergie and Andrew have lived together since 2008, despite divorcing in 1996. However, their relationship has reportedly been “strained” over the past year. This is allegedly due to the Epstein scandal surrounding them, and the pressure to downsize.

Sarah has been linked to Epstein too recently, after a 2011 email emerged appearing to show her calling him a “supreme friend”, weeks after she publicly announced she was cutting ties with him.

“It’s incredible that they are willing to go their own separate ways,” the source continued. “But it indicates that they need a break from one another. It’s a fresh start for both.”
