Prince Andrew ‘convinced King Charles is forcing him out of Royal Lodge for Queen Camilla’

Prince Andrew's future at Royal Lodge is under scrutiny

| Updated:

Prince Andrew has been thrust into the limelight again after he announced he would stop using his Duke of York title on October 17. Since then, speculation has been swirling.

Especially when it comes to the future of Royal Lodge, Prince Andrew’s home in Windsor.

The ‘future’ of Prince Andrew’s home Royal Lodge

The prince has been in hot water again in recent weeks over his association with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Andrew has also been accused of sexual assault, allegations he has always vehemently denied.

As Prince Andrew’s place in The Firm is scrutinised, people have also been calling for him to be evicted from his Windsor home.

Andrew has lived at Royal Lodge since 2004. His lease, signed in 2003, is valid until 2078.

He has reportedly paid millions in repair costs since moving into the building, but as his right to live there is called into question, it seems the house itself has also been compromised.

In fact, fresh photos depict that Royal Lodge is literally crumbling. The exterior of the building shows obvious areas of crumbling paintwork and cracks.

Royal Lodge ‘crumbles’

Evidently, it is in a state of disrepair. The images only show a number of issues, however, it does raise the question of the state of the residence on the inside.

Property expert, Terry Fisher of We Buy Any Home, has pointed out the need for an urgent renovation of the home.

He believes that these  works would cost upwards of £250,000.

He told HELLO!: “Royal Lodge appears to be showing visible signs of ageing, including peeling paint, mould on exterior bricks, and likely underlying damp or poor insulation.

“These issues point to postponed maintenance that could lead to more serious structural damage if not addressed soon.”

Elsewhere, Prince Andrew is allegedly paranoid over his living situation.

Will King Charles evict Andrew from Royal Lodge?

Reports claim that Andrew suspects that King Charles harbours plans to relocate Queen Camilla to the residence, in a case of future widowhood.

This would be similar to the arrangements made for the late Queen Mother. Queen Elizabeth II’s mother lived at Royal Lodge after the death of King George VI.

According to The Telegraph, palace officials have dismissed the claims. Royal Insider has contacted Buckingham Palace for comment.

Meanwhile, Prince Andrew’s claim on Royal Lodge appears to be pretty unshakeable.

Prince Andrew’s tenancy at Royal Lodge

Andrew signed his 75-year lease for Royal Lodge back in 2003.

This, the prince is said to consider as legally binding, potentially preventing the sovereign from forcing his removal.

The Commons public accounts committee has initiated an investigation into Prince Andrew’s living arrangements at Royal Lodge.

Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, who chairs the committee, revealed on Thursday that he would be contacting both the Treasury and Crown Estate Commissioners to request detailed information about the lease terms for Royal Lodge.

Sir Geoffrey indicated that the results of this investigation would demonstrate any need for further action.
