Nicky Campbell previously opened up about his public breakdown that led to being diagnosed with bipolar disorder and ADHD.
The TV presenter – who is on Sunday Brunch today (June 22) – has been a staple on screens for decades. However, over the years, Nicky has been candid about his mental health struggles.
It was in 2013, when he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, after he collapsed outside London Euston station one day.

Nicky Campbell’s breakdown that led to ADHD diagnosis
Back in 2013, Nicky suffered a terrifying collapse at London’s Euston station that saw him “sobbing on the grass”.
After seeking help, he was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder, and later ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder).
In 2024, Nicky opened up about dealing with the condition, during an appearance on Gabby Logan’s The Mid Point podcast.
“I got through it, ish, there are still ups and downs, but it’s kind of under control,” he shared.

Nicky says ‘everything got on top of me’
The TV star also spoke about how his dog, a golden retriever called Maxwell helped him through the difficult times.
Nicky confessed: “When I had my breakdown, he was incredible. When I collapsed at Euston station sobbing on grass that used to be there when everything got on top with me.”
He added: “[My wife] Tina said: ‘Come home come home,’ and he [the dog] was there, and you know when they put their heads on your chest and stuff like that. He’s been amazing.”
Nicky Campbell’s symptoms
Nicky – who shares three daughters, Breagha, Lilla, Kirsty and Isla with his wife – also spoke about the impact his condition had on his family.
He shared: “I remember the girls saying: ‘When we were that age we thought, oh daddy’s started weeping and crying for no reason. That really got to me when they said that but now they understand.”
Nicky went on to reveal the symptoms he suffered, which included becoming almost angry with people littering, as he would “chase them around the park”.
He said. “I remember one day people had left a lot of litter with receipts and stuff like that, I got back, I was very excited with them, there was Tina and I and I said, ‘Let’s get onto the police’.”
