Mollie King has shared the news that she was recently hospitalised for a mystery operation, forcing her to “take some time out”.
A few weeks ago, Mollie took a break from her show on Radio 1, and hadn’t posted on her Instagram feed since June. While there wasn’t any information on why Mollie had to leave at the time, she has finally given fans an update.
The 38-year-old singer – who appeared on Strictly in 2017 – revealed today (August 6) that she had to have an operation, and has since been flooded with support.
Mollie King reveals shock operation
Taking to Instagram this morning (August 6), Mollie thanked everyone who had checked in with her over the last few weeks.
She wrote: “Hi everyone! Long time no post. I just wanted to say a big thank you to those of you who have sent such lovely messages over the past few weeks while I have been off Radio 1. It really does mean a lot.”
Thankfully, it seems Mollie, who gave birth to her second baby earlier this year, is on the road of recovery, and while she had to have surgery – things are looking up.
Mollie explained: “I had to take some time off in July for an operation but everything went well and I am doing much better now.”
As for when we will get to hear Mollie on the radio again, it seems we have another few weeks to go.
She added: “I will be back on air in September and can’t wait to be back with you! It feels like forever since I have been in the R1 studio. I’m even missing getting thrashed in Matt vs Mollie, so that’s really saying something!”
Mollie ended the post by sharing a few snaps from her summer, before the surgery.
Friends and fans send support to Mollie
While the cause of Mollie’s surgery remains a mystery, friends and fellow celebs have all shown the star some support on her post.
Fellow radio star Roman Kemp was one of the many people to like the post.
I’m A Celebrity… star Dean McCullough commented: “We have missed you. I played your All Fired Up rap in the 10 minute takeover today just because I miss you that much.”
One fan penned: “Sending lots of love Mollie. So glad that you are okay and recovering.” “Mollie you are a superstar managing everything. Hope you have lots of people looking after you. Can’t wait to hear you on the radio again,” another fan added.
A third commented: “Glad to hear you are okay. Have been wondering where you were. Hasn’t been the same without you on radio.”
