Katie Price left her mum Amy overcome with emotion after giving her a tear-jerking gift amid her current health battles.
Amy Price, 73, was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) in 2017. This is a terminal lung condition where the lungs become scarred, making it increasingly hard to breathe. Those with the condition have a life expectancy of 3-5 years.
While Amy had a lung transplant in 2022, she is still experiencing “setbacks” with her health. For instance, her IPF makes it difficult for her to be mobile without struggling to breathe.
However, in a new YouTube vlog posted on December 30, Katie could be seen giving her mother a life-changing Christmas gift: a mobility scooter.
Katie Price gifts mother a ‘new lease of life’
In the clip, she said: “Whether you like it or not, you’ve got this now! New lease of life, Mother.”
She then showed her how to operate the scooter before asking her if she liked her present.
A visibly emotional Amy said: “Yes, I do, of course I do!” before breaking down in tears.
She then tried out the scooter herself, and added: “I’m going to have some fun on this. I think it opens up…” Amy then became too emotional to finish the sentence, which led to Katie replying: “Opens up a new lease of life, a bit of freedom.”
“It’s crazy isn’t it!” Amy said. “I’m just thinking of all the places I can go now. Gives your independence back a bit. That’s what I need.
“Where I’ve been used to it and then I haven’t had it. Especially when [her husband Paul] is not here, I’m stuck. So it’s good. I can’t believe it. Oh my God, this is too much for my brain.”
Katie concluded: “She’s got a new lease of life. They are good, happy tears. And I’m happy because she’s got more independence to go off and do things.”
Commenters were emotional, too
In the comments on the vlog, it was clear fans were touched by the gesture. “There is such a kind, supportive side of Katie,” one wrote.
“I cried when I saw your mother’s tears of happiness,” another admitted. “It doesn’t matter how old you are, whether you’re a child or an adult, but where your mother is, where your family home is, you feel safe and happy. You all look beautiful together.”
Similarly, a third added: “OMG, just cried my eyes out. This is so heartbreaking, bless her heart.”
While a fourth shared: “When I got my scooter, it opened up my world, not just me, but my daughter and grandkids. Your mum doesn’t realise how much of her life will be better.”
“This is such a special video,” a fifth remarked. “Your mum’s tears and smile said it all. Lovely seeing you all together smiling.”
