Grotbags came to life in Emu’s World in January 1982, starring alongside the likes of creepy manservant Grovel, mechanical butler Robot Redford and cowardly crocodile Croc.

Grotbags proved so terrifyingly popular she had her own eponymous spin-off.

Carol, who was 74, had been battling cancer.

RIP – and thank you for the memories.
