Model Caprice Bourret issues warning after being prescribed Mounjaro after gaining 20lbs

She went from a size 8 to a size 12

Model Caprice Bourret has revealed that her GP prescribed a microdose of weight-loss drug Mounjaro after she gained 20lbs.

Caprice jumped from a size 8 to a size 12 in spring 2024, after easing up on exercising and indulging in cakes, sweets and red wine.

However, after feeling her health “deteriorating”, Caprice spoke to her GP. The doctor informed her that, at 160lbs – 11 stone 6lbs – she was she was “borderline clinically obese” and needed “help”.

Caprice reveals she was prescribed Mounjaro

Speaking to The Sun, Caprice told how she suffered heart palpitations, difficulty walking upstairs, joint pain and severe inflammation. She was also upset at not being unable to fit into her designer clothes.

She said HRT to help her with the menopause made it difficult for her to shed the weight she’d gained. “I tried to lose the weight, but I couldn’t because I wasn’t taking HRT and I’m going through the menopause. My normal weight is about 138lbs, but I shot up to 160. That was the same weight as when I was pregnant. Then I started having these weird heart palpitations. Who has that at 53? I was too young for what was going on,” she said.

Caprice claims her BMI – Body Mass Index – was “super high”. And her doctor told her: “You need help here, you need to lose this weight. You’re borderline clinically obese.”

The model maintains that she wasn’t sure she needed to lose weight given that she was a “totally normal” size 12. However, she said she could feel her health “deteriorating”.

‘It was awful’

She decided to take the GP up on the offer of Mounjaro. Caprice was prescribed “half of .25, a microdose of a microdose”.

But, days after taking the jab, she started to feel even more poorly.

“It was awful. I got sick to my stomach, I got dizzy and lightheaded but I kept persisting because I needed to lose the weight. I continued for two months, but I couldn’t take it any more. Also, I love craving food and that’s another thing with these drugs, you don’t get the cravings. I really missed that,” she shared.

Caprice lost 5lb on Mounjaro, then decided to take matters into her own hands. She cut out carbs and processed sugar – something she described as “hell” – and started exercising again.

Other celebs on Mounjaro

But Caprice’s experience of the weight-loss jab comes in stark contrast to other celebs who have spoken out about taking it.

Gemma Collins has maintained that it’s changed her life. She’s thought to have lost three stone on the jab. Gogglebox star Amy Tapper is also a fan. She’s lost seven stone while taking it. Even Jeremy Clarkson has admitted that his trousers are falling down after he shifted two stone on Mounjaro.

Always seek your GP’s advice before starting any weight-loss plan.
