Adam Thomas has opened up to Instagram fans about going through a “first” amid his debilitating health battle with arthritis.
Former Strictly Come Dancing and Emmerdale star Adam, 35, revealed in August 2023 he had been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. In the months since he’s related numerous hospital trips to supporters, detailing various treatments he’s undergone in attempts to alleviate his condition.
“Nothing’s really working,” he explained in February, ahead of giving steroid injections a try.
However, it seems Waterloo Road star Adam has made progress in certain respects. And he’s also taking on a new challenge to see if that helps, too.

Sharing a Instagram Story selfie on Thursday (April 4), Adam was delighted to share he’s working out again.
Giving two thumbs up, he wrote in his post: “Another day back in the gym!! First time lifting weights today in a long time!! Still in pain… But it’s bearable for now!”
Later in the day, Adam uploaded video footage of him on his way to take part in further significant activity.
“Well this is going to be interesting,” he said as he walked.
Adam reflected: “My first day back in the gym today. And tonight I’ve decided to join my friend who owns a running club.”
He explained: “Every Thursday night they do a cheeky 5k. So I said I’m going to get involved tonight.
This could go really well… or terribly wrong!
“So here I am – wish me luck! This could go really well… or terribly wrong! Got to be in it to win it, haven’t you? And this has been a long time coming.”
Adam has also kept followers up to date with other aspects relating to his arthritis, including medication he takes.
A well wisher told him as they commented on a recent post: “Feel your pain, keep going and let us know how you’re getting on.”
