Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh has praised the soaps darker storylines – and has even revealed that she would love her character Michelle Connor to be the next cobbles psychopath!
Kym’s comments came after the show recieved 541 complaints for Phelan’s murderous rampage.
An additional 122 viewers then contacted TV Watchdog Ofcom about David’s sexual abuse at the hands of Josh Tucker in last Friday’s episode.
Kym told The Daily Star: “I really enjoy the recent stories. They are challenging, which is what you want.”

The actress even admitted she wouldn’t mind trying her hand at some of the darker storylines herself – perhaps she sees Michelle as the next Weatherfield killer?
“I’d actually like more psychopath stuff. I’d like my character to be one. It would be great being a baddie.
“Anyway, who wants a happy ending on soaps?”
With Michelle Connor set to face a tough few months as both her son, and the boy she raised as her son for the best part of 15 years, both come face-to-face on the cobbles once again.

When Ali and Ryan meet again after all this time, there’s bound to be plenty of drama in store.
Maybe Michelle will be pushed to the brink, causing her killer instincts to emerge!
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
