Corrie ‘legend’ favourite to enter I’m A Celebrity jungle: ’They don’t come any bigger than him!’

Who will this year's campmates be?

Coronation Street legend Alan Halsall is favourite to enter I’m A Celebrity 2023, according to the bookies.

The news comes after it was revealed in July that he was in talks with ITV to appear.

After 25 years on the soap, Alan is pretty much Coronation Street royalty. He has starred as the mechanic Tyrone Dobbs since he was just 16.

His performance has earned him awards at both the National Television Awards and the British Soap Awards.

Alan Halsall on I’m A Celeb?

It’s little wonder then that he’s apparently high up on I’m A Celeb bosses’ wishlist for the latest installment of the ITV series.

He’s in talks to join their 2023 cast.

“Tyrone is one of Corrie’s most-loved characters so Alan comes with a ready-made fan base,” an insider reportedly told The Sun in July. “Sometimes soap actors who are known for their iconic roles don’t quite translate once in camp – Adam Woodyatt being one recent example.”

They allegedly went on to reveal: “But Alan is a top lad with bags of personality so ITV are over the moon he’s in talks to join their 2023 cast.”

ED! has contacted reps of ITV and Alan for comment on this story.

Now, Alan has been revealed to be the favourite to appear on This year’s series of I’m A Celebrity.

The star is currently at Evens to appear on the show when it returns to ITV later this year.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “It’s rare to see a series of I’m A Celeb without a Corrie legend involved and they don’t come any bigger than Tyrone!

“He’s one of the best-backed candidates for the camp this year so it’s all eyes on the line-up leaks from here onwards.”

Who else could appear in the series?

Alan isn’t the only star linked with a spot in the jungle this year.

Josie Gibson of This Morning fame is also another favourite to appear on the show. BoyleSports currently have her at 11/8 to head Down Under this year.

Former rugby star Danny Cipriani is currently at 9/4 to appear on the show, whilst Derry Girls and Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan is at 5/2.

Love Island star Maura Higgins is at 7/2, as is Olivia Attwood, who appeared on the show last year but had to pull out very early into the series.

Dara O’Brien (6/1), Frankie Dettori (10/1), Phil Taylor (10/1), and Peter Crouch (16/1) are all linked.

Irish TV star Ryan Tubridy (25/1), Roy Keane (25/1), and Niall Horan (33/1) have also been tipped.

Liz Truss, Johnny Sexton, and Conor McGregor are all 50/1 to head into the jungle.
