Celebrity Traitors star Alan Carr may well have sealed his fate on the series, after viewers noticed his ‘huge mistake’.
So far, the comedian, 49, has played a blinder on the BBC One spin-off. As well as murdering best friend Paloma Faith in plain sight, he has managed to avoid any suspicion on him.
That is, until last night’s roundtable. In the tense discussions of who should be banished from the castle, viewers spotted Alan put his foot in it.
And now, the Faithful are also starting to realise that Alan may not be as innocent as he seems.
Celebrity Traitors: Alan’s roundtable mistake
Last night’s (October 23) episode saw the contestants play a tricky game of chess, where they had guess which attributes had been ascribed to each player.
The line-up was split into two teams, with the losing team vulnerable to being murdered.
In getting the most answers correct, Alan was on the winning team, and so was shielded from this fate.
Though, of course, Alan needn’t have worried about being murdered as he’s a Traitor.
And his forgetfulness was quickly picked up on at the roundtable.
What happened at the last roundtable?
In the heated discussion on last night’s show, Alan found himself under fire for the first time. Joe Marler – who recently opened up about his mental health battle – quizzed Alan on his demeanour.
In response, Alan said: “The Traitors murder people who stick their head above the parapet.”
However, Kate Garraway said: “But they didn’t murder you,” while Joe chipped in: “They also won’t murder you tonight.”
As Alan expressed confusion, the rest of the roundtable reminded him that he had earned himself a shield in the task.
While Alan managed to play off his ‘forgetfulness’, viewers at home took to socials to lament how their favourite Traitor may now be a goner at the next roundtable.
Taking to social media, one Celebrity Traitors viewer wrote: “Alan slipped up, forgetting he had a shield.”
A second added: “Alan’s first mistake. Forgetting he has a shield because it doesn’t matter. If they run with it, he’s done.”
“Alan made such a rookie error with that shield conversation,” said a third. “Surely he’s on thin ice now but you never know with this game/group!”
Clock’s ticking for Alan Carr…
It really does look like the clock might be ticking for Alan, with the rest of the Faithful picking up on Alan’s shield faux pas.
After the roundtable, Joe, alongside Lucy Beaumont, Nick Mohammed and Cat Burns all dissected what went down.
“You don’t forget you’ve got a shield,” Lucy said. “You would forget, if you get a shield and think it’s not important anyway. That’s a really big behaviour thing.”
Who was banished in the Celebrity Traitors?
Despite Alan’s cock-up, it was Stephen Fry who was banished at the last roundtable.
The 68 year old fell victim to the ongoing ‘big dog’ theory, where Joe believes the two most intelligent celebrities were picked by Claudia Winkleman to lead a team of Traitors and Faithful.
Stephen joins Mark Bonnar, Clare Balding, Tameka Empson and Niko Omilana as celebrities who have been thrown out the castle.
Meanwhile, Joe Wilkinson, Charlotte Church, Ruth Codd, Tom Daley and Paloma Faith have all been murdered by the Traitors.
Will the remaining Faithful finally see the Traitors that walk among them? Find out when it returns to BBC One on Wednesday night.
