Loose Women star Andrea McLean has revealed how her recovery is progressing after she was rushed to hospital earlier this year.
The 55-year-old presenter has opened up about her health after she battled a severe case of pneumonia earlier this year. She revealed in March that she had been diagnosed with pneumonia, acute kidney injury and sepsis, following a series of tests.
Taking to Instagram, the former Loose Women star gave her fans a detailed update on where she’d been over the past few months, and how she is getting on in her recovery.

Andrea McLean on ‘slow and bumpy’ recovery
In a lengthy video posted on her feed, Andrea admitted her recovery has been “slow and bumpy”. Because of this, she decided to attend a “Wellness week in Turkey” alongside Olympic athletes and world dancers. And while she was looking forward to it, she explained her struggles while she was there.
She said: “I was nervous. And it’s been wonderful. I have gone at my own pace. I have accepted that right now, I can’t do what I used to. And yes, I had to lay down for the rest of the day because I had so much fun doing a dance class and forgot to take it easy.
“But it was all okay. No pressure, no worries. I have done the morning walk – not the run. I have done stretching and yoga and had a massage. And I have met some of the most wonderful people.”
Andrea – who left Loose Women in 2020 – admitted she wanted to make people see that you can do something even if you “think you’re not fit enough”, encouraging others to take part in future retreats.
While she may not be strong enough to do it all right now, Andrea is already looking to the future. And is determined to do better next time.
She said: “I want to come back year fit, strong and able to do it all. My challenge is set. The gauntlet is thrown.”

Andrea’s collapse
In March, Andrea revealed she had collapsed in her home and was lying in her bathroom for an hour, before her husband discovered her.
I very nearly died.
At the time, she explained: “I got up to go to the bathroom and just fell to the floor. By the time the paramedics arrived, they said my blood pressure was so low they had to stabilise me before moving me.”
Over the following few weeks, it began to dawn on Andrea that she had almost lost her life, and that changed her focus.
She said: “There are rarely second chances in this life. So, as I began to regain my strength I knew I had to seize the day and focus on what I really want to do. I very nearly died.”
