Last month in Emmerdale, Jai got a shock when he found out that Rishi had been keeping a huge secret from him.
Jai discovered that he was adopted meaning that Rishi isn’t his biological dad. Since then, Jai has demanded answers, but Rishi has refused to give them to him.
Emmerdale fans have been speculating on who Jai’s real father is and have ‘worked out’ exactly who is is – and also a horrifying twist. What could it be?
Emmerdale: Jai’s adopted
Last month, Jai accidentally booked the honeymoon suite when booking a trip away for the family. Laurel then told him to keep the booking and proposed to him with Jai happily agreeing to getting engaged.
Eager to start wedding planning, Jai went to find his divorce papers. However, he ended up knocking over a box of legal documents.
Shockingly, Jai then found a certificate that revealed that he was adopted and that Rishi isn’t his biological dad.
Jai then confronted Rishi who tried to sugar-coat the truth to him, explaining that he would always be his dad. Jai was furious that Rishi had lied to him all these years, angry with his betrayal.
Since then Rishi has resolutely refused to be completely honest with Jai – and it very clear there is more to the story than the one-night stand Rishi is trying to sell it as.
Last night (Wednesday July 26) Jai’s mum Georgia arrived and tried to break up a scene between drunk Rishi, Jai and Laurel. When it quickly became apparent Georgia and Rishi have been lying, Jai had had enough. But Rishi blurted out a heartbreaking insult over Laurel’s abortion.
It has left the family crushed, but tonight, the truth will finally be revealed.
Emmerdale fans ‘work out’ upsetting Jai adoption twist
Emmerdale fans have speculated for a while that the twist in the tale is an upsetting one. They think that Rishi could be protecting Jai, suggesting that Jai’s biological father raped his mum.
One Emmerdale viewer suggested: “I think that Jai is a result of rape. Rishi took the mantle, but now is bearing the brunt of Jai’s anger.”

A second fan commented: “Wonder if Jai’s mother was raped, and that’s why Rishi won’t tell him the full truth?”
A third person agreed and tweeted: “Bit ungrateful there Jai. I wonder if he’s a rape baby.”
Emmerdale: Who is Jai’s dad?
Fans are now beginning to speculate on the identity of the father – and think Suni’s dad, Rishi’s brother – was the one who could have raped Georgia.
Many have suggested Suni and Jai are in fact brothers rather than cousins, but could the horrifying truth of how they became brothers leave Jai reeling?
“Anyway, I’m going to guess that Not-June Georgia was raped by Rishi’s brother and Jai was the result,” shared one fan.
Another agreed: “It’s obvious Jai’s dad must have raped his mum – was it Suni’s dad?”
“Suni will end up being Jai’s half-brother and Rishi’s brother Jai’s real dad…” said one more.
Jai’s gone his whole life believing the lie that Rishi is his dad. But, could Rishi have been protecting Jai from the horrifying truth?
