Actor Simon Rex and Meghan Markle ‘never dated’ as he gushes over letter she sent him

The actor previously turned down a bribe to say that he hooked up with her

Actor Simon Rex has set the record straight on his past connection with Meghan Markle, revealing that they never dated despite persistent rumours.

While attending the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, this week, the Red Rocket actor, 50, shared an update on their relationship.

Meghan Markle and Simon Rex ‘never dated’ despite rumours

Back in 2022, Simon revealed that he had been offered thousands by several British tabloids to falsely claim that he had been romantically involved with the Duchess of Sussex before her relationship with Prince Harry.

However, he stood by his integrity.

“I said no to a lot of money because I didn’t feel right lying and [bleep] up the royal [bleeep] family.” Simon said at the time.

After hearing about his decision, Meghan, 43, personally sent him a thank you letter.

It reportedly read: “It’s nice to know there are still good people.”

I never dated Meghan. It wasn’t dating, no. That story was definitely elaborated.

The actor was so touched by the gesture that he framed the letter and has kept it on his wall ever since.

Taking to Twitter in 2022, he humorously noted: “She has very nice penmanship, btw (by the way).”

Now, during an interview with Daily Mail at the Sundance Film Festival on January 28, Simon was asked if he and Meghan had remained in contact since the letter.

“No, no,” he responded.

The Scary Movie star also made it clear that there was never a romantic relationship between them.

He said: “I never dated Meghan. It wasn’t dating, no. That story was definitely elaborated. She wrote me a letter actually thanking me for not, you know, dealing with the tabloids and making up stories.

“She wrote me a very nice letter. I have it framed on my wall.”

Meghan and Simon starred alongside each other in US sitcom

Simon and Meghan both appeared in a 2005 episode of the American sitcom Cuts, but their interaction was purely platonic.

In a 2020 episode of the Hollywood Raw podcast, the actor recalled how their brief connection had been misconstrued.

“Well, I’ll clear it up. It wasn’t really dating her,” he began.

“We hung out one time because we did a TV show together, and nothing happened. We never even kissed. It was just like we hung out once in a very non-dating way, but you know how word can get spun into, ‘We dated’.

“She was just someone I met on a TV show and we got lunch. That was the extent of it, but it looked like it could be that we were dating. But nothing happened, just to be clear.”

Although Simon hasn’t been in touch with Meghan since receiving her letter, he expressed nothing but support when learning about her upcoming Netflix series.

Real reason Queen Consort Camilla will change her royal title revealed: ‘It isn’t due to her popularity’

Queen Consort Camilla is set to undergo a major title change following the coronation in May, it has recently been reported.

Now, the real reason behind this change in title has been revealed by a royal expert – and it’s not due to her popularity.

Queen Consort Camilla to undergo major title change

Last week it was revealed that Camilla will undergo a major title change at the coronation.

As reported by The Mirror last Thursday (March 16), Camilla will be dropping the ‘Consort’ from her Queen Consort title soon.

Once the coronation is done, the 75-year-old will reportedly be simply known as Queen Camilla going forwards.

The news was revealed when the coronation edition of the bible was leaked.

In it, it reads: “To commemorate the Coronation of their majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla. In the Abbey Church of St Peter, Westminster. The sixth day of May 2023.”

When Camilla first married Charles, it was expected that she would become Princess Consort when Charles became King.

However, as per the late Queen Elizabeth’s wishes, Camilla’s title was changed to Queen Consort when Charles took the throne.

Now it seems as though another tweak is in order for Camilla’s royal title.

Why is Queen Consort Camilla changing her title?

Now, the real reason behind Camilla’s title change has been revealed – and it’s nothing to do with her popularity.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliam spoke exclusively to ED! about the decision to change Camilla’s title and the reasoning behind it.

“Camilla’s history with titles is unique,” he said.

“She was Princess of Wales but chose to be known as the Duchess of Cornwall,” he then continued.

” It was the official position that when Charles ascended the throne she would be known as Princess Consort, until the Queen’s intervention in the eve of her Platinum Jubilee.”

“She is Queen Consort, but it is a heavy handed title,” he then said.

Camilla title change not down to ‘popularity’

The royal expert then continued, saying: “None of the previous three Queen Consorts used it, Alexandra, Mary and Elizabeth were all known as Queen.”

“In the age of social media and the net bad habits such as calling Catherine – Kate Middleton persist,” he then said.

“It also makes sense to make a title easier to use, which is why the change is likely,” he then continued.

Camilla’s history with titles is unique.

Richard then revealed at this point that the title change has nothing to do with popularity.

“It isn’t really linked to her personal popularity,” he said.

However, there is also another reason behind the change, according to the royal expert.

“Queen Consort Camilla sounds clunky so it will probably change,” he revealed.

The lifestyle and cooking show is set to premiere on March 4. With Love, Meghan was delayed from its original January 15 release date due to the Los Angeles wildfires.

When asked about her new venture, Simon admitted he wasn’t aware of the show but responded positively.

“Oh cool. Good for her,” the actor said.

Meanwhile, Meghan has long moved past Hollywood dating rumours, having married Prince Harry in May 2018.

In 2020, Harry and Meghan relocated to California after stepping back as senior royals.
