Gorgeous little Lio is the fourth child for Steven and his wife Alex

Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has shared the first photo of his newborn son Lio George on Instagram, much to fans delight.

The baby is the fourth child for Steven and his wife Alex, who have daughters Lilly-Ella, 13, Lexie, 10, and Lourdes, five.

The cute snap showed Lio wrapped in a star-patterned blanket with his arm outstretched.

“He’s so beautiful,” wrote one fan.

“Future captain,” wrote another.

“Sweet!” added another. “Have you got him a football kit yet?! Congratulations to you and the family.”

Steven announced his son’s arrival on 29 April. “Lio George Gerrard was born this morning at 4.55am,” he wrote. “Both are doing great. Our family is complete,” he added, alongside a heart emoji.

Alex announced they were expecting another child on Twitter last year, when she shared a photo of her daughters looking at an ultrasound image of the new baby.

“We are all very excited for our new baby to arrive next year!!” she wrote. “Number 4.”

The footballer and his family are living back in Merseyside after a stint in Los Angeles. Steven admitted that the time in the USA, where he played for LA Galaxy, helped him to bond with his family even more.

“The kids have seen me so free and easy,” he said.

“They’ve been surprised that, whatever they asked me to do in LA, I’m like, ‘Yeah, come on, let’s do it.’

“At home if they want to go to the swimming baths or a fairground, it’s tough. You have to be selective about where you go because there is so much attention on me.”
