Corrie SPOILER: Amputation horror for Kevin

The Websters are about to face their toughest week yet

Life will never be the same for the Webster family after next week as little Jack gets a life-threatening infection that leads to the devastating reality that he might need to have his limb amputated.

It was revealed a few weeks back that 7-year-old Jack would be diagnosed with sepsis in yet another groundbreaking storyline from Coronation Street.

The soap is renowned for raising awareness for important issues, and Jack’s fight for his life after contracting sepsis is just one in a long line of hard-hitting topics for Corrie.

Coronation Street recently covered usually taboo topics like male rape and suicide, which has won the soap heaps of praise from viewers.

Next week will see Kevin leave Jack in Sophie’s care when he is sent home from school because he doesn’t feel well.

Faye and Seb then find the boy collapsed on the stairs, and trainee GP Ali advises them to get him straight to A&E.

But once there, the doctors mistakenly think he has a viral infection and send the schoolboy home.

It’s only when Ali later calls in to see how Jack is doing that he notices his fingers and toes are discoloured and calls an ambulance.

Kevin, Sally, Sophie and Tim are all shocked when doctors reveal that Jack has contracted sepsis though a cut on his knew that he got from playing football.

The family are further devastated when doctors reveal the next 24 hours are crucial and that Jack may have to have a limb removed as a result of the infection.

With Kevin taking vigil at his son’s bedside, Sophie is wracked with guilt that she didn’t see her brother wasn’t well sooner.

Will Jack pull through? And will Kevin have to face a decision that no parent should have to make?

Corrie will air these scenes early next week. 

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
